if you could get the 660ti that would be a better bet, and its a overclock beast. or go with the 660
If you have games that support PhysX i would go with Nvidia (yes AMD supports it ) however it taxs your CPU , i have the Asus GTX 660 runs Great had em in SLI was even better
for $50 more you can get the GTX760, beast-mode graphics card. Owns GTX660,Radeon HD 7870, and the 660 Ti.

I'd say the 7870 because you get free games with it if I recall correctly.

i5 3470 can run physx off the cpu without any trouble

more cheaper boards support xfire than sli

and 7870 comes with free games
far cry3 blood dragon, bioshock infinite, tomb raider

True like i said it can run it... i have had alot of issues with the 7000 series from AMD had to RMA 2 7970's due to faulty VRM finally gave up when i had to bring it in again got a full refund went with Nvidia, Drivers are rock solid xfire is still a big buggy from time to time SLI seldem have any issues both are good choices for there price points
(I Just Mentioned the PhyX because it natively supports it (and less CPU hits are a bonus when running demanding titles) I got a wack of free games from AMD belive me the headaches that insued with it was far from worth it :) and no I am not a Fan Boy :) looking forward to what AMD has instore for GPU's coming up they are now lagging quite far behind Nvidia with the release of the GTX 780 and the Titan (Sure they Do have the 7990) but be nice to see something other than the 7970 (arc)
Shame Nvidia is so cheap when it comes to releasing more titles with games !
I got 2 Copys of Metro last light with my 660's game its self was meh.
My Asus Direct CU OC 1020 2 GB never break 60c and are uber quite ! i cant hear the fans at all with my set up .
with my 7970's it sounded like a jet when playing games !!
so if sounds an issue to go asus ! not sure how they did on the 7970's i am sure if they did go the DCU route they did an A1 job my 7970s ran hot high 80's its a tight race anyways the both got there pros and cons

The GTX 760 should be your best option since it is parallel to a 7950 performance-wise.
Spend $50 more and get the 760, its about 5% faster than a 660 Ti
HD 7870 Ghz Edition. It has the GFLOPS and the free games.
I have a i5 3470 + 660 GTX. Recommend it.
760. It's a rebranded 660ti with a price of a 660, so it beats 7870.
Thanks all, what psu do you think ill need? is a 550 one enough?
I would go for 600w just to be sure, though 550w should suffice.
ya and make sure it has the correct connectors. Most all 80 Plus or better probably will but uncertified might not.

I would go for ATI 7870 since it is better benchmark on hwbot.org. But if you have many game that use PhysX, it is good idea to get GTX 660 if you want hardware PhysX (that mean running on GPU).

I hate to hijacked here but how do you turn on PhysX on Batman Arkham City while I have ATI video card?

the 7870 is a better choice when facing the 660.

The better place to compare video card is hwbot.org.
