Most people who care about such things tend to recommend the Logitech G400.
All I will say is that I spent too much money on a Steelseries Sensei and I am not very happy with it, despite loving other Steelseries products. It's horribly inaccurate at extremely low velocities and it's developed an issue where it sometimes double-clicks when I single click (easily fixed but the problem keeps coming back). Avoid. q:
Enhance pointer precision should be turned off to minimalise mouse acceleration. That 'feature' will cause your cursor/crosshair/whatever to increase in speed even if you move your mouse at a steady velocity. Unless you're really keen on that, it's best to turn it off so your cursor movement movement is as close to a 1:1 match with your hand movement as possible.
No jitter, no prediction, 0 acceleration; One of the best sensors on the market today. I love mine and I've gone through about 20 mice in 2 years. This is the first mouse I am actually completely satisfied with. I use it with a PureTrak Talent and I couldn't be more happy with it.
The G400 is a fine mouse but the scroll wheel is freaking awful and they haven't even fixed it in the second revision.
Roccat Savu is a good mouse as well if you feel comfortable with the shape. It also has some quality control issues I believe since I had to exchange mine twice due to the glides being in awful condition.
No, don't take a chance on the Abyssus. The mouse is prone to jitters and it's luck of the draw. Just google for Abyssus MS paint and you'll see how freaking awful that sensor is. Your best bet is to find the LoL edition since those seem to be fine for the most part but they are rare.
You can install software on the Deathadder but you don't have and no it doesn't slow the computer down.
You can also look for the Zowie Evo EC1 or Evo EC2.
You can change DPI and polling rate without any drivers on Zowie mice. I used the EC1 for a few months and liked it for the most part.
Personally I'd go with saitek or steelseries, though it seems that a lot of people don't like to "claw" their mice.
Some people just want a barebones mouse with a good sensor. Abyssus could be a mouse like that if Razer had some damn quality control on it. Hopefully OP gets one that doesn't jitter like hell.
Zowie is another company that provides a driver-less mouse with a good optical sensor. Great tracking and perfect for low sensitivity users.
My Deathadder 2013 goes to 6400 dpi but I only use 800. I only ever use about 3500 when I'm in a tank or something in BF3.
I can't even play FPS games with something like 2000 dpi. It's too fast and if I wanted a headshot I'd overshoot. So I just have a big mouse pad so I have plenty of room to move the mouse around without having to lift it.
1920x1080px at 8200dpi = .23in x .13in
