In Need of a new good, quality Mouse.
Hi, After my previous thread about a new computer, it has gone well and it's coming ina few days, But It's not coming with a mouse. I already have a decent keyboard so I was wondering if you guys could help me find a good mouse. What I don't want is:

* Ugly Mice with ugly, Buggy software and drivers
* A mouse that will be laggy or jumpy or skippy

If you're pretty anal about having a mouse with a perfect sensor that does perfect 1:1 pixel precision without jitter or prediction, and I know not many people are, you should first check out this list: http://www.esreality.com/index.php?a=post&id=2024663

Most people who care about such things tend to recommend the Logitech G400.

All I will say is that I spent too much money on a Steelseries Sensei and I am not very happy with it, despite loving other Steelseries products. It's horribly inaccurate at extremely low velocities and it's developed an issue where it sometimes double-clicks when I single click (easily fixed but the problem keeps coming back). Avoid. q:

If I buy a g400/g500 do I have to install its software? I have a logitech G930 headset and the Software is good but thats just the settings of the Headset.
I don't know about the G400 and G500 specifically, but I used to use a G5 and MX518 without the software installed. I think you need the software if you want to edit the on-the-fly sensitivities though.

Me, I just max out the dpi and adjust the cursor speed in windows control panel. Works just fine.
Does this work fine on the G400? It tends to cause a stairstep effect on other mice due to prediction and must be left on the default, but I guess with the G400 not having prediction this isn't a problem?

And can someone explain DPI to me? and why should I disable enhance pointer precision?
DPI is basically mouse sensitivity and cursor speed, it's more involved than that but for any average person that's basically the jist of it.

Enhance pointer precision should be turned off to minimalise mouse acceleration. That 'feature' will cause your cursor/crosshair/whatever to increase in speed even if you move your mouse at a steady velocity. Unless you're really keen on that, it's best to turn it off so your cursor movement movement is as close to a 1:1 match with your hand movement as possible.
Deathadder 2013

No jitter, no prediction, 0 acceleration; One of the best sensors on the market today. I love mine and I've gone through about 20 mice in 2 years. This is the first mouse I am actually completely satisfied with. I use it with a PureTrak Talent and I couldn't be more happy with it.

The G400 is a fine mouse but the scroll wheel is freaking awful and they haven't even fixed it in the second revision.

Roccat Savu is a good mouse as well if you feel comfortable with the shape. It also has some quality control issues I believe since I had to exchange mine twice due to the glides being in awful condition.

I have usually avoided Razr, but I just looked up the Deathadder 2013 and Amazon UK seem to be selling it for quite a discounted price (£26.99 off). That's pretty nice.
Sorry for the late response;

No, don't take a chance on the Abyssus. The mouse is prone to jitters and it's luck of the draw. Just google for Abyssus MS paint and you'll see how freaking awful that sensor is. Your best bet is to find the LoL edition since those seem to be fine for the most part but they are rare.

You can install software on the Deathadder but you don't have and no it doesn't slow the computer down.

You can also look for the Zowie Evo EC1 or Evo EC2.

You can change DPI and polling rate without any drivers on Zowie mice. I used the EC1 for a few months and liked it for the most part.

So, I found a good mouse. I want to know what you guys think about it! http://www.razerzone.com/eu-en/store/razer-abyssus Should I get it?
Well, it's kinda expensive considering that it's only feature is 3500dpi.
Personally I'd go with saitek or steelseries, though it seems that a lot of people don't like to "claw" their mice.

Razer are good ones

Some people just want a barebones mouse with a good sensor. Abyssus could be a mouse like that if Razer had some damn quality control on it. Hopefully OP gets one that doesn't jitter like hell.

Zowie is another company that provides a driver-less mouse with a good optical sensor. Great tracking and perfect for low sensitivity users.

My Deathadder 2013 goes to 6400 dpi but I only use 800. I only ever use about 3500 when I'm in a tank or something in BF3.

I can't even play FPS games with something like 2000 dpi. It's too fast and if I wanted a headshot I'd overshoot. So I just have a big mouse pad so I have plenty of room to move the mouse around without having to lift it.

I loathe Razer mice, having gone through three of them over a fifteen year period. Someone on tgforums.co.uk recommended a Corsair Vengeance M60 FPS mouse and it worked flawlessly for me. It's the only gaming mouse I know of that has a "sniper" button and that saved me many times in Rage. And you can change your dippies on the fly, too. The new Corsair Vengeance M65 has a screaming 8200dpi.

As if theres a human being that can use that. xD
yes, but you can throw any kind of accuracy out the window with it
1920x1080px at 8200dpi = .23in x .13in
