Good GAMING PC for €300, €400 and €500
Hi guys,

I am going to build a new gaming pc for a friend and I need some advice.
He prefers to have:

- AMD cpu
- dedicated GPU
- Micro ATX mobo and Micro ATX case
- 4 GB RAM
- 500 GB HDD, not a SSD

I want to ask you to make the gaming rigs like this:

€300

......
......
.....
....

€400

.....
.....
....
....

€500

......
.....
.....
....

Thanks and greetings,
caesar

Under 500 Euro from Germany with nice discrete graphics but not including Windows OS:

To go lower you should use a AMD APU with integrated graphics and not discrete graphics, then you can add discrete graphics later.

Under 400 Euro this build uses AMD A10-5800K APU with integrated graphics and no discrete graphics but the IGP is better than low end discrete:

300 Euro is maybe possible with a AMD A8-3870K APU and use mostly the cheapest parts possible but make sure you get DDR3-1600 or DDR3-1866 and a decent motherboard.

Under 300 Euro something like this and you can get a cheaper PSU if you need to cut off more Euros for shipping:

I've updated the builds a few times, make sure you check back to see the current ones!

Are you sure with AMD CPU? Still you have much more game designet for Intel & nVIDIA as I have seen.
dont go amd, an i3 wont be much more
unless on an extreme low budget, than an amd apu setup with fast ram
will be similar to 7750/7770 gpu performance

do you need an os included?

for €500 without an os

cpu: Intel Core i3-3210 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor
mobo: ASRock B75M-DGS Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
ram: GeIL EVO Leggara Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 cl9 1.5v Memory
hdd: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
gpu: HIS Radeon HD 7850 1GB Video Card
case: BitFenix Shinobi ATX Mid Tower Case
psu: XFX 550W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
odd: Samsung SH-222BB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer
Total: €497.13

would run circles around roves fm2 €500 build

at just over €400 take the above and swap out the cpu/board/ram/gpu to these
http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/1bUFi
cpu: AMD A10-6700 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor
mobo: ASRock FM2A85X Extreme4-M Micro ATX FM2 Motherboard
ram: GeIL EVO CORSA Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 cl9 1.5v Memory
gpu: none
Total: €404.98

What about the monitor, keyboard and mouse? The question about an operating system was already posted, but that also comes into the equation.
my gaming rig im building right now cost me only $450
2nd generation intel core i5 2500k 3,3G
4 gb of ram
geforce gt 520(kept over from my other computer)
im not trying to be a ♥♥♥♥ here or anythiing but graphics cards cost that much u could build a sytem for that money but it would be hard to get the performance u wnt out of it what is ur friend gonna be doing on the pc? like what games is he gonna be playing ithink u should just buy a new console when it comes out and have ur friend get one and u can play witht him and stuff idk thats just my opinion
AMD CPUs are great for games, specially with both the upcoming PS4 and Xbox One having AMD CPUs
quit comparing pc to console hardware
consoles do not run windows, and they use their hardware differently

the upgrade path from an i3 1155 has alot more potential than an amd fm2 build
Ya, but the FM2 won't need a upgrade as soon. It's meant to be a complete build without upgrades until it is replaced with a whole new build and if a few things carry over then bonus. Almost no one is going to go out, buy a new computer and then replace the CPU the very next year. By the time the average person is looking for a upgrade the possible upgrades for that socket are usually all obsolete.

with the i3, you can just upgrade the cpu and gpu, no need for a new board when you upgrade
i3 with a b75 board, you can get an i5 3570 or i7 3770

the i3 is a better cpu than the amd fm2 or pii x4 cpus, but its igp sucks

i3 + gpu (7790+) > amd fm2 cpu+apu but costs about $100 more

if your going to use the fm2 build
do it with the apu not a dedicated gpu

op wants a amd build with dedicated gpu, but for the cost/performance intel is better than amd, and offers cheaper upgrades, same board can be used for an i5

if addidng a dedicated gpu this is a better start
i3 3210 (€106) + asrock b75m (€52) + = $158
cpu is cheaper than an a10, and the board is cheaper than an a85x board

You have got to be kidding me. The i3 costs about 45% more than the Athlon II x4 750K and the CPU is in no way near 45% better. The i3 is also locked while the Athlon 750K is unlocked for overclocking. In the i3 you are paying for the Intel HD IGP which you do not need with discrete GPU. Currently as far as I'm aware the Intel HD IGP does not function to improve performance in any way when a discrete GPU is used.

--> Price is without OS, he already has one.

---> Screen, keyboard, mouse and speakers are already bought.

---> He don't wants a console because he is going to play some Total War and some other non-console games.

---> Already said he is going to play some Total War games (not Shogun 2, Fall of the Samurai and Rome II ), some indie-games, Stronghold and minecraft. The reason I want a dedicated gpu in his pc is because of the Total War games wich he doesn't wants to play these on low but on med or higher. He needs to use his PC for some years. I think 3-5 years.

I hope I didn't forget any questions, if so please say it to me.

750k = $86

i3 3220 = $110

thats only 27% more ($24) which can be made up in the price diff on a board

cheapest amd a85x board is $75, or inel b75 board for $50

from microcenter its even closer
a10-6800k in a85x board = $215+tax
i3 -3245 in z77 board = $215+tax

prices overseas are slightly different

cost is within a few $
intel setup would have an extremely poor gpu
amd 750k setup would need a gpu

@op
if he wants to go cheap, an amd apu setup with fast ram would be close to an i3 with 7770 setup for less
http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/1cbBm €380

else, do an i3 with a7790 or 7850 for more and have better cpu upgradability
http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/1cbLh €500

between €350-500 would cost more, but not gain much
