Looking to upgrade
Hey guys, I have recently decided to upgrade my pc, it's served me very well so far but now Iwant to push it that little bit further so I can experience my games on full graphic settings. I have been looking around at some graphics cards but as yet have not decided on which one to buy, this is my current system

Acer Predator G5900
Intel Core i7 875k 2.93 GHz
ATI Radeon HD 5850
8GB DDR3
Windows 7 Home Premium.

I'd much prefer an Nvidia card than an ATI one for an upgrade, I don't like the Catalyst software. I'd love to go out and buy something like the Asus GTX Titan but unfortunately I can't justify spending the best part of £900 on a graphics card. So on a budget of say maximum £350, what would be the best performing Nvidia card for me?

That thing is probably as futureproof as they come. I said money was no object but I have to draw the line on this one, nearly £4,000! It looks like a powerhouse though and I was really considering buying that until I came to my senses!
I like this board it very nice board I pick it becouse it run the proccoer 3770K perfictley and with the new brige it runs the graphics cards 60 % beter then athere boards I woud go for it I chose this link becouse it explanes every thing and it takes you to all the right links. http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/product_info.php?cPath=81_689&products_id=60676

your current build is a 1156, cpu launched in q2'10

just under 3yrs, if it still works fine, oc it to around 3.3-3.6 (10-20%)
should be doable with a 212evo (do not oc with the stock cooler)

tcase is 72c (max recomended, but they can go to 90+ and will auto shutdown at around 98)
so keep it under 85

there are several good guides to oc the 875k

then get a better gpu
If the board is not rated for oc then dont do it sell the pc and but the money to new pc.
This is great info guys, very appreciative of the time you guys are taking to help me out. I think Trevor that I will have to invest in a new pc, I would rather spend more money now on building a rig I don't have to tinker with for a while. I saw this parts package on Inet.se, it's a Swedish site selling custom pc packages, this specific one has an Asus SABERTOOTH Z77 motherboard which looks pretty nice and including all the gear will cost roughly £1300, looks pretty decent but would need someone with a little experience to look over the finer details. It's got a Core i7, 3770K processor which I think I am almost certain is the one I will want, I may be able to taylor make my pc here, I must look around a little first. Here's the link to it.

You should keep your current PC. i7 875k is great and strong. Still good for long as it take. Just video card for now, as well as new power supply is need.

Get the i7 while you can for future-proofing your build. More newer games, such as Crysis 3, are beginning to take advantage of more than four cores/threads. Additionally you will have more headroom when it comes to other studio tasks, such as photoshop and HD video editing. The 3770K is a great choice.

Old i7 have quad core and 8 threads.

I've made a decision, been looking over what I would need to replace in my Predator G5900 and it works out better for me to just buy a new pc. I'm going to keep this one and perhaps upgrade it a little, there's no point in selling it as it's value has dropped like a stone like all computers do. I bought it just over a year ago and that cost me 17,000 SEK, second hand now you can get them for around 8,000 SEK so I decided to keep it and use it for internet surfing in the living room where I will connect it to our tv.

Just ordered a new package, it's made by a local Swedish company called inet.se I think I already posted a link to one of their products, here are the specs.

Intel Core i7, 3770K 3.5 GHz, 8MB Cache
Nvidia Geforce GTX Titan 6GB
16 GB DDR3 1600Mhz, Corsair VENGEANCE LP RED
250 GB, SSD Samsung
3000 GB hard drive, 7200rpm, 64MB Cache
MSI Z77A-S01 motherboard
Corsair Cooling Hydro H70 CPU-cooler
Custom Cooler Master HAF tower
Windows 8 64bit

It was advertised with a 650 watt psu, I've been able to change that to an Antec 900watt psu. Gonna be paying a monthly contract for this which is going to cost me just over 20,000 SEK, roughly £2,000.

This motherboard Z77A-S01 don't support for SLI, only CrossFire. But you won't getting more fastest with CrossFire because it is 16X + 4X. I recommend this. http://eu.msi.com/product/mb/Z77A-GD80.html or other motherboard that support SLI/CrossFire.

Of course that other motherboard supports SLI. It just doesn't come with the SLI bridge.

I found out that it can running, It is missing information on motherboard specs. Source are in Swedish language, so not going post that link. Still, not recommend motherboard with 16X 4X as if there are other 16X 8X at same price.

Here is interest part. http://www.overclock.net/t/819348/16x-16x-vs-16x-4x-gtx-470-sli-comparison

Don't upgrade the CPU, their is no need as their would be no performance increase.
The only thing that needs to be upgraded is that GPU. A 7870 or a 79xx Would be a perfect fit for your PC. I would not reccomend Nvidia as OpenCL and OpenGL is used heavily in modern games. AMD has much overtaken the performance end of the gaming market, and very good value for the price. Cuda is a outdated, and lhas less utilization that is underused.

Not true about cuda, OpenCL and Open GL.

EDIT: I found no source about CUDA being outdate. As well as OpenCL and OpenGL.
