Installing Console Components into PC?
I'm a bit of a techie, but not so much with hardware. I was wondering if it would be possible to use components from consoles like Xbox 360 or PS3 and install them into a desktop to get similar performance to that of the consoles. Since they seem to never have frame-lag they must be able to have a similar effect if they are used while playing a game on the desktop right?

Ok well first thing, a PC is superior to a console in every way, if you could GUT a ps3 into a computer it would be outaded trash.

@Sticky Like I said, I don't know much about hardware. But the consoles have graphics cards right? And CPU's? Can't you use them in a computer?

Hmm alright. That was a lot more helpful than the other comment. But I'm pretty sure you can have multiple CPU's right? If consoles have them (I don't know for sure) could you install them just as extras and would that help at all?

no, consoles are not very upgradable
you cannot remove a console cpu/gpu/ram ect..

the only part from newer consoles thats removable is the hard drive, which is a notebook drive and much slower than most desktop drives

No, no no. First, consoles have all components soldered onto a large PCB. It is NOT possible to disassemble or combine motherboards of various systems into one computer. Second, the hardware in consoles are trash. They are VERY laggy, if you've actually played console games before. Most games on current consoles have MASSIVE framerate lag. They can't even render 720p at 30FPS; sad.

The CPU/GPU are practically a decade old. Even at the time they released, PC hardware was ahead of these consoles in power. You must realize that all console graphics cards are literally just PC graphics cards. The Xbox 360 GPU is pretty much an ancient Radeon X1800 from the days of old. Every 16 months PC hardware doubles in power. A modern day Radeon HD 7970 runs exponential circles around both the Xbox360s GPU and the PS4/Xbox720s GPU. The CPUs, on the other hand, are even worse off. PowerPC architecture triple core CPU, its practically the power level of a cheap core 2 duo from back then.

Even if you bought the cheapest components on the market right now, it'd still be significantly better than console hardware.

the only thing that makes consoles better is the coding
each has the exact same hardware so they can write the os designed for 1 setup and it works for all
no os or other background programs running while the game is running makes gameplay seem smoother
