I've tried to play witcher 2, gta 4, diablo 3 and team fortress 2. TF2 and D3 are the only games that run OK. I have the latest drivers for my geforce 610. I've been testing settings for a couple days and I don't know what to do. No matter what settings I adjust to witcher and gta are still unplayable. I see videos on youtube of these games running fine with a geforce 610 and systemrequirementlabs says that I can run everything at recommend.

This is where I bought my pc (has more specs listed)
https://shop.aafes.com/shop/Product.aspx?PFID=X243W&dept_id=7741

This is my first gaming PC and I know my graphics card is entry level gaming, but im pretty sure my pc should be running these games 10x better then it does now.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

the gpu is the problem

a gt 610 is a very sad card
should have gotten a 660 or 7870 or better card for gaming

in this video the 610 is playing bf3. I can't even get gta 4 to run on lowest everything

this makes me pretty angry because I spent 800 on this pc. and i bought it through the military px. Windows 8 is the biggest pain I've ever had to deal with. I kinda expected better.

well the system looks decent, minus that gpu.... check the psu on the inside and post what make and the wattage, if its enough u can go grab like a gt 560 and be good.. if that mobo has 2 pci slots also, u could keep in that 610 and use it as a cuda/physx dedicated and get a boost in some games like cryis/batman archam city...

the gt610 is the lowest model nvidia card in the 6xx series.... its really more for just like multimedia pc's so they can watch dvd/blue rays and output 1080p...

-edit sorry i dident see the power supply at the bottom of that link, its only 300 wats :(

to go any higher than a gt 545 u would need to also upgrade the psu :( the gt 545 has 144 cuda cores, as the gt 610 only has about 44, a 560 can have 384 - 448 depending on the version.

That GPU isnt a gaming card, its for Media Center PCs n things of that nature.

For it to be up to par you need a better 1, 650 and up for nvidia and whatever there is for AMD.
other then the sucky GPU its a good system.

GT 610 can't be gaming card. It is for blu ray and media. There is good reason why you build your own computer. I recommend GTX 650.

I really don't get how I can search all these threads and watch all of these videos and see people playing on my graphics card just fine. And SRL says that my graphics card is ok for recommened settings. What is their system doing that mine cannot.

Their system may not actually have a GT 610 and they just claim it. Or the resolution is super low. Point is, even looking at the specs of that card, it's obvious that you will experience exactly what you do experience. It's for web browsing, watching movies. doing office work. It's not an "entry gaming card". It's not for gaming at all. It is worse than actual budget gaming cards that came out in 2007. Look a little here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Nvidia_graphics_processing_units

If your PSU is good enough, and there is room in your case, consider getting something like a 560ti. Great price/performance ratio and it'll make you happy for quite some time. Don't go below x60 with desktop Nvidia cards.

$800 is a little steep for what you got in terms of hardware. Just clicked the link and it says it has a 300W PSU, which means actual gaming cards are probably out of question, especially if it's some no-name model (store says "standard"). You'd want one with at least 500W if it's a quality brand, and more is definitely better.

Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear. :/

I have this card back in the states. After getting a new power supply and adding this card, think I will be good?

Oh yes, a GTX 460 is heaps better than what you currently have. Day and night. It'll do just fine for a long while. You'll want a 500W PSU for the card in an average system. I'd get something from a good manufacturer, e.g. Antec. Maybe 600W (don't need it right now, though). PSUs are often overlooked, but it's one of the components where it's good to spend some money on for quality.

actually his card is even much worse than yours, but he's playing on a laptop with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ resolutions which probably makes the difference, anything under gtx x50 is not for gaming

on a 1k build, they should have included a bd drive or a good gpu

I turned the res down A LOT with high specs and witcher is smoother, but as you already guessed, looks like ps2'ish graphics. Its gonna be a month or less before I add a new power supply and get my graphics card. Till then d3 and tf2 are always fun to play.

im pretty new to pc gaming (I feel like once you get used to the controls they feel really good.) I was playing the new hitman on my 360 and it i keep wishing i could used key and mouse. Do you think guild wars 2 is fun? I've never really tired an mmo past gettinga lvl 20 in wow.
