GTX 670 not running at full potential
Hello people of interwebz! I'm using a GPU and I suspect it's performance is being restricted somehow. I realised this when i compare with my friend using the same computer specs as mine but he is getting at least 15 to 20 FPS more in games then me. Even after lowering graphics settings I still cannot beat him at Framerate.

Also, my GPU usage is at 33% without any games on. (The only thing running was my skype). I'm getting reaaal worried here. Can someone tell me what I should check? Could it be my ram or my CPU that is causing this limitation??

What is your CPU? If we have that information we might be able to tell you. If you have an AMD quad core and he has an intel quad core or something, then that will probably be the issue if the game is very CPU intensive. Also, make sure that you disable your onboard video card and update to the latest driver.
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2700K CPU @ 3.50GHz 3.80 GHz (Z68XP-UD3)
MSI GTX 670
IPS LED 21.5 inch 1080p
Corsair 4gb x 4 1333 DDR3
FSP 650W PSU

This are my CPU specs. Thanks for the reply. My computer is about a year old now. Could it be a harddisk problem? Because my 1TB harddisk is left with around 200 gb of space.
are you using a monitor or a tv?

if its a tv, the gpu could be doing scaling to limit the overscan so you can see the entire screen which would use some of the gpu
I am using an IPS LED monitor 21.5 inch full HD.
Close any non essential processes, any task bar apps that dont need to be running close them.
Try to limit whats running so you can try to troubleshoot if a program itself is the cause of it.

You can check if theres any BIOS updates you're capable of getting for the motherboard, while a good idea though most likely has nothing to do with the GPU issue.

Do you possibly have another monitor that you can test to see if your current 1 is indeed the issue?

Just because you have the same components as your friend doesnt mean your PCs are going to be equal in performance, alot of variables can make a difference.
what are the specs on the othe rmachine?
1333 cl9 ram could be slowing your system down, vs the other system if it has 1866 cl8 or faster ram
Hey guy thanks a lot for the response! I'll try to get the specs on my friends machine asap. In the mean time gonna test the monitor according to CJ.
