Headset, 5.1 Surround, and Help
My problem is this: I recently got the CM Storm Sirus S, which is a 5.1 Surround Sound headset. It came with four audio jacks (Pink Mic, Orange Subwoofer and Center, Black Rear Speaker (right and left), and Green Front Speaker (right and left)) as well as a USB plug (in the booklet it says "USB Port for Power" but it works without the USB plugged in.)

The headset also has an in-line remote that controls the four audio jacks.

My problems are:
1) Where do I plug the four audio jacks? I'm confused because I have all four colors on my motherboard (and I can confirm that yes, they are the same colors and have the same functionality. And as well, this motherboard (Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3) has 5.1 surround capabilities)); I'm asking this strange question because:

2) When I turn any of the dials on the in-line remote, none of them really make a difference besides the Green Front Speaker. As far as I'm concerned, every single plug is connected in their determined place. I did a small test where I tried plugging in the Rear Front Speaker in the Green's place; the Rear Front Speaker dial on the in-line remote was the only one that could possibly change how the sounds are and such.

3) Is there really a use for the USB besides lighting up the headset?

I'm honestly new to this whole headset business and I hope to receive help with my problems.
Thank you in advance.

It seems like you have it all plugged in correctly, yes you need to have the USB plugged in. 3.5 jacks go in the motherboard and USB in any free port you have :)

What I really want to know more about is Help #2 and why the only dial that actually does affect (game) sounds is the front end speaker. Thank you for clarifying that I do need the USB to be plugged in and that they are plugged in the right areas. :-)

That's one of the weirdest things I've ever heard of. I've seen and used 7.1 surround headsets which are simply USB, no analog ports, and I am using a fancy sound card which sends 7.1 quality surround sound through a single headphone analog cable, but never heard of headphones that actually use USB for power AND several analog cables for audio.

Oh, Mefi...

Have I ever told you I loved you? I still do.
Thank you!

I'd +rep every one of you but I can't. Or at least I don't think I can.
Thanks, all, for the help!
