High temps or normal for SLI?
Hello.

I'm a bit worried about my temps of mine 570s. My GPUs are from Evga. The first card is getting max of 88C at max use, and the seconds one is getting almost 80C at max use too but it's a HD version. The case is a: Cooler Master HAF X...

Thanks!

yeah its pretty hot, but still well within safety range.. theyre probably dusty, so id get them out and give them a good vacuum/airblow

vacuum and pcs do not mix, they make loads of static
use an aircompressor or a can of compressed air

if your case has a side fan, try setting it from suck to blow or reverse

meh static isnt really a problem as long as you dont use one of those brushthingies on top.. i must have vacuumed my computer like 100+ times.. never any issue whatsoever.. however compressed air works even better but its more work

570s tend to run hot anyway dont they?

Could try dusting off the GPUs fans and some of the heatsink, which if you do dont let the fans spin.

For the most part it seems normal though..

Could try spending a few $ on new fans, the stock ones prolly suck. not counting the side fan.

One thing you can try tho is having the sidefan off and check temps that way. i dont even use my sidefan and quite honestly its better without it, not to mention quite a bit quieter.

Ok Thanks.
It's ok, they get warm because there close i remember when i had 2xGTX260 in SLI they would often get close to 90c, and yeah i know when your past the 80c mark it degrades the chip a bit quicker but not by much and who keeps a GPU more than a year or two anyway.

I did everything and the temps are the same... Would you recommend me to change the thermal paste?

I have this one: Céramique by Arctic Silver.

It might shave 1 or 2 degrees off but not much SLI systems run hot, best way to combat it is sell them and get a powerfull single card or make the move to water, or just dont let it bother you.

Well I see what i can do.

Thanks

One simple question.

Does a high resolution increment the temperatures even if the GPU is at full use, or it's just the use that make it hot?

Thanks.

A high reolution increment would make the card work harder so it would cause the temp to rise. A couple suggestions that I don't think I saw.
1) clean up your cable management within you case. A tidy case = better airflow.
2) consider adding more cooling to your system. Small reminder though, more fans does not necessarily mean more airflow, remember to follow basic intake-exhaust flows.
3) an above poster suggested buying a new single gpu (thats no fun :P ) I would suggest a cheaper alternative would be to get a larger more spacious case like the HAF (if you're using air cooling). Couple hundred versus a few hundred $. :)

To OP,

I have just one EVGA GTX 570 HD and they do tend to get hot. Like in the mid 80s C under full load. That is before I created a custom fan profile. You see the default fan profile designed by Nvidia and EVGA is made to keep the GPU within relative safe temp while keeping it extra quiet. But the the thing is the fan never gets above 60% and the GPU gets hot.

What I did is I used EVGA precision, or you can do this in the Nvidia control panel, and set the fan profile so that for every 1 C the fan will be at 1 %. So if your GPU is at 70C then the fan will run at 70%. I found this works really well and has kept my GPU extra cool. Usually stays in the 60s C under full load. I have a Cooler Master HAF 912 case with added 200mm megaflows.

Try it out, create a custom fan profile and it will keep your GPU a lot cooler, but ofcourse will be louder, but who cares when your gaming.

This is what I do, although I just set my fan to always run at 75% even when I am not in game. Adds a little extra noise, but to me it's normal now and isn't even that loud.

I never did trust the auto fan feature.

Ok I tried everything and I get like 2C less than before xD.

I have been using Sleeping Dogs as benchmark, I run the game maxed out. I noticed that using the AA at max I get those high temps, using it at Medium=Normal I get a lot better GPUs temps. After noticed this I tested the GPUs with other games as: Crysis 2, BF3 and Metro 2033. Surprise, surprise, the GPUs with all those games (At max settings) runs like butter and beatiful.

What do you think about this?

I think that assuming you are using vsync it simply lowered the power needed to put out 60 fps thus reducing the workload and heat.
