My Computer has gotten slow all of a sudden. Need help on figuring out WHY?
Well first, things like FireFox and Chrome have constantly been MUCH slower and having more "stopped working" moments. Also, internet download speeds through Steam, iTunes, and Google have gotten ungodly slow (400 KBs when it's normally 1.8 MBs).
Also, when I play certain games (Counter-Strike Global Offensive, Battlefield 3, and Skyrim) the fans kick in and the computer gets VERY LOUD, to the point where even blasting my headphones wouldn't tune it out.
Another thing is that i've just cleaned out the computer with a can of air not 2 days ago and I got a TON of dust out.

What doesn't make sense, is that i've got an 8 core AMD processor @ 3.6 Ghz, a GTX 550 Ti by Nvidia, 8 GB of RAM, and my hard-drive is not even half way full (it's 1.3 TBs). Could having a 460 Watt power supply be an issue for hard-ware like this?

What could have caused the sudden slow-down? The change occurred when I moved it from the second floor down to the first to get a wired connection.

Another thing to note, is that I ordered the 660 Ti and 16GB of RAM. These are coming in a week and I'm hoping I'll see a big improvement, but until then,

WHY THE HECK HAS IT GOTTEN SLOW????

Oh and I was going through my device manager updating drivers, but I noticed "Anvex Virtual Audio Device" has that yellow exclamation mark icon and it says it has a Code 52 error? Would this impact the speed of my system?

AT&T is my ISP by the way.

Fans getting louder when running a game is normal it also depends on the game ANNO 2070 for example makes the GPU get far hotter than running other games. Internet speed changes depending on what time of day it is and if you moved your modem to another socket their could be more interference. That error will be a driver error.

AT&T might of suddenly offered lower prices or something to lure in far more customers more customers with an internet service providers = slower speed till they upgrade it.

when that GTX 660ti gets there you better get a bigger power supply and a good brand one aswell, 430w is low power for what you have now.
The power supply is the crummy one that came with the computer. That could be the problem?
First thing is to test your Hardware for faults.

HDD - download HDTUNE, and look at its health tab, nothing should be in yellow or red. IF so then that is most likly the issue, Also the SMART power on hours, HDDs live about 25,000 Power on Hours. - If HDTUNE cant read the SMART data, then run CrystalDiskInfo.

Memory - its rare but memory can go bad. You can download memtest86+ and run it for 24/48 hours and make sure there are no errors.

Power/PSU - Download SpeedFan and look at the voltage detected by the Motherboard. The +12v +5v +3v should be +/- 5%, no more. That will help to see if the PSU is at fault. But with out a full load ohmeter there is no REAL way to be 100% sure on the life of the PSU. But speed fan can give you a good idea of what to expect.

Software would be next

Viruses/Infections/Spyware - MalwareBytes, Avast!, cleaner, autoruns are all programs you can download and run to make sure you didnt pick up an infection.

You can also check your PC for unintended installations, Start>Control Panel>Programs and Features, Look through the list of installed apps and whatever isnt supposed to be there remove it.

regedit - HKLM/HKCU > Software>Microsoft>CurentVersion>Run <- This is the list of programs that are running when your PC starts and your Local User Logs in. Verify the list is clean. You can search the listed dlls exes agaisnt Google to verify they are legit.

theres alot more, but thats a good starting place and will keep your busy for some time.

go to your run command and type msconfig, then go to the startup tab, do you have alot of programs enabled? if so disable the ones you dont use or would rather have disabled until you start the program. Next download ccleaner from filehippo, do a registry cleanup and also run the cleaner. Lastly download auslogics disk defrag and deframent your drive. IF THAT DOESNT SPEED UP YOUR COMPUTER, then it could be virus/malware, download malwarebyes free version

PS go to control panel and uninstall any program you dont use or dont need anymore and Also upgrade your PSU to 700W or more but make sure it is 80PLUS Certified or better from a reputible company. Good luck.
Thanks. I went through the services in msconfig and found a TON of things I do not need running. Thinking about a better power supply... thanks for the info.
