Intel i5 or AMD Bulldozer cpu?
So I'm building a pc for gaming and I'm trying to decide which of the two cpu's are better. I don't know too much about cpu's but it seems like the AMD one is better and 80$ cheaper. Am I right about this or am I missing something?

Here are the two processors

I have the FX6200, which I overclocked and it works well for games. The intel one is actually better for gaming though as Bulldozer processors have problems with single threading. That being said the difference is about 5-10 frames or so. Not overclocked its probably the equivelant of a really good i3. The FX 8350 is the the equivelant of a i5/i7. If $80 isn't a big deal go for the intel CPU, if the price is a deal breaker than I havn't experienced any major problems with that processor for gaming.
i5-3540 is definitely better than the fx-6100; but you get what you paid for. If you want to dish out that extra money for better performance, then its up to you. You may see an AMD processor with eight cores but a 4 core intel processor absolutely destroys it because Intel has better architecture.
i've seen some people that have tweaked an FX processor into better than i5 performance, AMD is kinda a more "do it yourself" chip, imo. If you want to play with it maybe you can figure out the architecture and OC and have a great chip, or you could grab an intel and have a great out of box experience but i've heard of people optimizing FX for single threads and light threads which would make the 8320-50 a really good value. Take your pick, man they're both great chips.
Well, I'm sort of an AMD fanboy, and IMO, the i5 would be better than the AMD 8-core. You could go with a 6-core AMD and that would be a better buy. Although if you google benchmarks, you'll quickly see where the AMD is better than the Intel, and vice versa. Each one has its purpose. Either way you'll have to get a video card to go with the system.
screw the FX processors.I watched a video of a fx6100@5ghz ran in cinebench and got a 4.7 score and I ran my Phenom II 6 core@3.7ghz and it got 6.3 so FX sucks way bad
yeah skip bulldozer, get piledriver or ofcourse intel
X4 965 Black Edition --> Budget AMD (somewhat worth it)
FX-8350 --> acceptable computing power, but not for gaming & power consumption like the old intels
i5-3570K --> Perfect
i7-3770K --> +++$

Forget about Bulldozer...

Greetings
Have to say i5 as well, to many problems with the FX series when it comes to gaming which requires BIOS updates and Windows hotfixes to resolve. not worth it imo.
