Bazzite and Cachyos

Tried both, though I can't give a fair comparison as I tried bazzite with the gnome desktop environment and cachy with plasma and hyprland. Hyprland I enjoy a lot but it just lacks HDR support which is ironically a can't live without after exposing myself to it. Maybe my eyes are adjusted to 1000nit now and see anything other as dark.

Besides that gnome which does have HDR support I felt things where just blurrier in a way in videos, can't say much in the terms of gaming. Plasma having superior HDR support from what I hear.

For bazzite I enjoyed it briefly when I was on it, though I learned I prefer my Arch distros more than fedora based distros. Maybe I would of enjoyed bazzite more if I had plasma for it as well. But I tried gnome as my way to escape the windows stylized theme of plasma.

What is everyone else's opinions.

I get HDR on Arch Linux using Wayland + KDE Plasma.
My current knowledge is you can get HDR on Linux only on Wayland and current desktop environments implementing HDR are Gnome and KDE Plasma.

Bazzite if fedora based, which I'm personally anti fedora. Cachy is arch based. Which is decent. Wayland which almost all major distros use now is trash compared to what x11 offered.

Bazzite is great for gaming same as cachyos. Just depends on your flavor of Linux you like. Bazzite is fedora and more locked down for stability. Where as cachy is completely open. Which I know you are cachyos as you mentioned it before during your migration.

Kde plasma has a lot of cutting edge features but they are all experimental stuff usually. Which involves a lot of quickly pumped out updates resulting in potential stability issues.

Hyprland has planned HDR support but nothing recent I have heard of as of yet.

Gnome also has HDR support but not as refined as KDE has.

Cachyos is more aggressive on the cpu than bazzite is.

I tried both bazzite and cachy and prefer cachy over bazzite. I also dabbled a bit into Prism to see what that was about.
