Best configuration for gaming PC between 1000-1500
So looking to get a new computer from scratch, my current one is real old and I have been using my Macbook retina for the time being with Windows 64 bit bootcamp (performs alright actually). I keep hearing building is the way to go but when I total components together there is only around £100 difference. Anyway you guys got any good ideas? I'd be playing on 1080p but will be buying a 1440p monitor when I have the money. Cheers :). Would prefer intel over AMD too

Don't trust AMD and its drivers. Catalyst 13.1 made my previous Radeon GPU suffer from excessive heating issues. You should not have those types of driver problems with Nvidia.

what about the nvidia driver that completely disabled their fans?

You can just download the 13.3 beta driver, that one has worked fine for me and I never had that heating issue you stated with 13.1 driver just the random flickr when browsing web pages every once in a long while.

Deffo sticking with Nvidia, probably get a 2GB 680 or just go for it and get a 690. They seem quite a bit better than a titan for pure performance and about £100 cheaper

Anyone wanna check out this configuration (change the graphics card to a 690/680 and I'd get an SSD paired with standard HDD, and 8gb ram instean of 16) cheers

how much more is it to change from the coolermaster 750w to the corsair 750w psu
and for gaming, get the i5 not the i7
no games use ht, i7 is better if you do lots vm, video editing, or other multithreaded tasks

get faster ram 1600+ cl9 or lower
for gaming 8g is still overkill

for under £1350

Cheers for that man, would the 600w not be enough for pwoer supply for a 2gb gtx 680? This configuration looks good and cheap from what you were sugguesting (If you add an ssd/change graphcis card/and case)

yes, the corsair gs600 is a good power supply
a gtx680 is about 200w

A 600w PSU should be efficient enough for the build, but you may need at least a 750w PSU if you are going to do any overclocking.

600 will be fine even if you oc, 750+ if you want another 680 for sli

yeah going to go with a 750w and a gainward 690 I think, all in all comes to just over 1600 cpu is watercooled and overclocked to around 4.4 I think
