Linux -> nVIDIA -> "Powermizer" -> *Grrr!*
So, Steam comes to Linux and nVIDIA throttles all our cards running under it. :-(

An example would be something as experienced in SS3 where, upon running an auto-configuration, one receives something like the following:-

CPU: Ultra
GPU Speed: *S♥♥♥♥♥♥* - we'll set it to "Low" and it'll still run like cr@p
GPU RAM: High

I also don't entirely trust that SLI is working correctly under Linux, or perhaps it's also the Powermizer throttling which is causing like symptoms.

I've seen a few posts about this on the web and, so far, no solutions for disabling Powermizer have worked for me.

Over to the Steam community, and TIA for any input.

I dont belive that steam or nividia staff will read your post. They migrated bug report to github: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux So if you are expecting a officially answer you should go there.
Most of the games don't detect my GTX690 Quad SLI fine nor even on a single card.

Just set it back to ultra.

SS3 run better on Linux apparently.

What's your FULL SPECS?
What drivers are you running? I am running the experimental nvidia drivers (currently 310.14) installed through "Additional Drivers" in 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 that Steam recommended during beta. They work fine with GTX 550 Ti on i5 650 3.2 GHz cpu (2 core hyperthreading, appears to be 4 cores to any OS) 8 GB RAM.

The only thing I had to tamper with was putting 32-bit flash where 32-bit Steam could find it for Steam videos. I have not tampered with any nvidia settings other than "unchecking" "Sync to Vblank".

I primarily play TF2, but also tried out Half-Life and CS. CPU and GPU intensive non-Steam "minecraft" also has a framerate way beyond my 60 Hz 1080p HDTV refresh rate, even when running a separate server on the same computer and after they have a setting to limit the client's rate to keep from overheating some computers.

I have not played SS3, but from the wiki it looks like it recommends serious video (GTX 480/580).

Do you have a new CPU that has both slow Intel integrated graphics and external graphics (which might require something to force nvidia graphics)? I hear something in Linux forums about that called "bumblebee".
