Microphone picking up vibrations
I recently got a new microphone ( A Blue Snowball ) and when I am recording my commentaries the microphone picks up the vibrations of the desk/keyboard when I have to rapidly/repeatedly press a key. I had a foam rubber excercise mat laying around and i cut out a piece to sit the microphone on to help with the vibrations. It did help to a degree but I need a better solution. Is there something that I could buy like an anti-vibration mat to sit the microphone on? I know there are shock mounts for microphones but the Snowball is a ball microphone and the only one I could find for a ball microphone is from Blue and I have read bad reviews for it plus I don't want to spend $50 on a shockmount for a $70 microphone. Anyone have any ideas?

Not exactly sure if this is the same thing, and I know this is going to sound stupid but I used to wrap handheld microphones (the ones that are used for stages/performances) with rubberbands to lesson the vibrations from passing trains.

Or you can perhaps lower the pickup sensitivity of your microphone so it doesn't pick up these vibrations?

I never really thought about lowering the sensitivity becausee when I got the microphone I set it up to be the correct volume for a particular game thaat I am doinbg a walkthrough on and that is the only thing that I have recorded with it. I did try to adjust the sensitivity but to get the volume of my voice to be loud enough to hear over the game I have to amplify it and the vibrations are still there. It has since dawned on me that I can lower the volume of the game so I can lower the sensitivity and still be heard clearly and with the lowered sensitivity it wont pick up as many vibrations. So I think I have it figured out now. Thanks for your advice it got my thinking on the right track.
