oh wow the a-10 got better marks? @_@
Not gonna go the intel route, Its between the 6300*99% sure thats what I am buying* but I like the FX-8320 just unlikely I can afford that. Also using a 7870 xfx double d, love this card, was great for the price, not overclocking my system, when i build another one in a year or so, then ill play around with OCing, one of the reasons i want to have this OC option, but not doing it til I have a 2nd gaming rig built, this will be my main one for about a year or so=/
Go to or phone some comp repair shops and you should be able to get a decent atx case free or $10, ppl abandon there old comps all the time. Case has no side fan, no problem, marker/ jig saw/ drill and you have a 120mm hole for fan on the side panel.
Get an FX6300/8320 which ever but try to put it on a 970/990x mobo.
Spend a little more now and your future option will be better, ie; SAY YOU GET FX8320/ ASUS 990x evo R 2.0 mobo now then you can add another 7870 xfire later when the 7870 prices drop.
If you absolutely have to put it on the 7xx matx mobo do it.
I've already been through the re-buy phase when I tried to cheap out on mobo/psu.
Ps, overclocking is much easier now, small bump cpu volt/up muti, put a CM 212 + or evo cooler on it and you're done.
I've been running a x4 965BE 1.425v 3.7ghz HT 2200mhz (4400mhz effective) about 3 1/2 years now, keeps on plugging away, also went xfire with 6870s and don't regret it xfire has a bit of learning but not too much to figure out..
Thanks, yeah my PSU isnt a cheap one, thats secure. Not gonna be able to double up on GPU anytime soon. ANd my case will be less than 50, not worried about that, but not trying to get a crappy one*i did the jig saw cutting to fit my hardware in this case, lol, its Ghetto Fabulous. I built many pcs, just never a gaming pc, and I usually build a new pc every 18 month when moey allows. Just building a gaming pc is SOOOO much different than your every day surf the web quad core lol. I want the best my meager budget will allow and with the state of the economy, I been peice mealing it together. peice here and there, but Ill post back on Thursday with the specs I got
HOT DAMN! Thanks for the mobo model, just found this
http://www.microcenter.com/product/382961/M5A97_Socket_AM3_970_ATX_AMD_Motherboard
$15 cheaper than what I was eyeing and supports more ram lol Much appreicated. Thanks!
dont put a fx in a 700 series board
get a 970 or 990
the m5a78-m lx is a weak board, 3+1
http://www.overclock.net/t/946407/amd-motherboards-vrm-info-database
same with the gigabyte 780 board
a 95w cpu will work in them, but then you cant upgrade
for better upgrade options id go with the i3, combo'd with the boards, its only about $70 for the cpu
if you are limited at $150
the only combo thatll work good is the 4100/4130 with the asus m5a97 r2
that one is 4+2 heatsinked
FX6300 $119.99 with free 7xx mobo, wonder if there's a catch but it'll save some $$ for you.
http://cart.microcenter.com/cart.aspx?RedirectUrl=http://www.microcenter.com
Or that^^^ better quality $175.
Omg the 8320 is only $140, in Canada it's $175ish.
stock MB
AAHD2-HY (Holly2)
The free MOBO are our of stock. Ill look into ma 970/990 if its in my budget, but might have t accept a weaker board.
Thanks, but when I am ready to upgrade, I have no issues with buying another MB and CPU, when the time comes, I can always put this one in one of my 4 pcs, kinda keep passing them down lol m*other 3 are work horses, not gaming pcs*
I am probably around $150 to $200*total max I can go* for the cpu/mb, ill post Wednesday with what I went with.
I do value and appreciate the Gamer Xpert Opinion you guys are giving. Thanks
processor wise i definitely wouldnt get the I3 games are starting to use more cores and you will appreciate the extra cores doing non gaming tasks.
