Hard drive failure?
My comp detected a future hard disk failure and it says its gonna die soon what do I do!? I have two (2) hard disks, Win7 primary hard disk and a terrabyte hard disk called (D:) Data. I backed everything up to Data, and if so how will i stop this from happening and how can i fix this? This computer sucks...

look at the health tab, if the reallocated sector count is above 0 it could be going bad

You mean Windows, which makes it a hit or miss. Don't worry about it. Instead, go check your smart values and look for the 'reallocated sector count'.

Thanks man, how do i find my reallocated sector count?

Ignore it. Again, look at your reallocated sector count. 0 = Fine. Above 0 = Look for a replacement and backup your stuff.

What happens if it does fail? ):
TheBDK님이 먼저 게시:
If the reallocated sector count is 0 your drive is still good to go. Windows is just weird sometimes. There's no way it can reliably tell you that you drive is failing or about to fail. Instead, listen for clicks and keep an eye on the sector count as well from time to time.

ok thanks

Well then you lose your stuff, but Windows is making stuff up all the time. Your hdd is going to fail at some point in time, but the point is, Windows cannot reliably predict when that is going to happen. It could happen tomorrow or in 5 years. So just listen for weird clicks, do regular backups and keep an eye on the sector count and you'll be fine.
