can i get a better graphic card for my hp xw6400

I've got doel core processor speed 2327 , 8m ram 1t hard drive. But the graphic card is a ati 5450 can i get better one?

It depends on your power supply. A GTX 660 or HD 7870 is a huge upgrade from your 5450 if your power supply can handle it. Your CPU will bottleneck anything higher, though.

it says low profile, but looks like it will fit a full size card

stock looks like a 575w psu
should be good enough for a decent gpu
but think about getting a better quality power supply if you get a 150+w gpu

That psu should be able to handle a GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7850 if it has one PCI-E 6-pin connector. Both perform the same unless you get the EVGA GTX 660 Superclocked Edition which edges out an HD 7870.

if you get a gpu and psu, you can use them in the next build too

save up about $400-500 for a board, cpu, ram, case
then swap in the psu, gpu, and drives from the current build

So do you think i would get a bit more life out this machine if i up grade the gpu ? if so i'll upgrade this station and then give it to my son in year or so then buy a new machine
