Gaming Keyboard
Split soda on my old one, getting kinda sticky now.

Need some suggestions on a new one. Nothing fancy, but something that's not going to suck for long term use.

Suggestions?

I got the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2013, it's a mechanical keyboard, but very nice yet. Just the sound if you type is loud haha.
Otherwise i'd recommend the Logitech G19 if you have enough money. Otherwise the G15-G11 for lesser money.
Razer DeathStalker or Genius Manticore GX.
I have a zboard. It's cool because you can clean it easily considering you can take off the face.
most keyboards can be washed in water so long as you dry them for a few days.

If yours is beyond reasonable use - you have nothing to lose. just rinse it under running warm water. Then let it dry on one end for a few days then turn it the other way up for a day or two more. try to keep it warm but not humid.

If you want to you can speed up the wash & dry, by taking out all the screws and washing the membrane [most modern keyboards use them] and washing the keys away from the main PCB.

Only try these tips after you leave the keyboard unplugged for a few minutes to let any residual charge dissipate. Water won't usually harm the keyboard but it will short circuits, and that does harm them. So make sure its dry before reaassembly or plugging in.

Razer DeathStalker

The Monkey approves this keyboard.
People may get mad but if you want a mechanical keyboard I recommend the Razer Black Widow standard edition. It is one of the best value mechanical keyboards on the market. It may not light up like the ultimate edition, but it still has the CherryMX Blue switches, macro keys, and support for up to ten different profile settings. It is also the most affordable of any of the name brand mechanical keyboards on the market, less than $70 at some locations (you can find it cheaper if you find last year’s model, and $70 is really cheap for a mechanical keyboard). I have it and not only helps my gaming, but it also helps with work also, my WPM while typing has increased significantly. Another plus is that you can take the keys out to clean the keyboard if you spill food or it just gets dusty. Overall I really like the keyboard, the only problem that I have with it is the driver software has some compatibility issues every once and a while, but the keyboard itself is awesome.

another vote for the blackwidow ultimate , i love it , it does take some getting used to if you are not familiar with mechanical keyboards or you have an el cheapo now... but it's a great keyboard , and yes the typing can be a little loud but i done got used to it pretty much after a week orso.

i am a little biased though , i also have the orbweaver and the deathadder to compliment the keyboard.

the ONLY drawback i have with this keyboard it it's very easy to hit the caps lock key when hitting the A button

I do agree; it is kinda loud but I like the sound it makes. I don't really understand why Razer recieves so much hate, they make pretty good products for a decent cost. The only thing that I would say they don't do well is their Tech Support and their PR.

Well i have small fingers, it doesn't happen to me haha.
You should check Microsoft SideWinder X4, possibly something from Razer or Logitech
How you dare?

steelseries is best
Well if you want long term gaming needs, you need to go with mechanical. Those last around 20 million to 40 million clicks. From there, you gotta decide what switch do you want? Blue, Brown, Red, Black? Blue and Brown have a more bumpy/tactile switch which kinda gets pushed down before you go all the way to the bottom of the key. Blue requires less force than brown, but has a clicky sound, which is pretty loud. Red and Black are linear switches that basically require you to push down all the way, but it goes in one linear motion(hence linear switches). Red is easier to push than black. All and all, Red and Blue require the less force to push and are more popular among gamers. Browns are great for gaming and everyday work.

You definitely need to go in person to a computer store and try out keyboards with these switches before you make any decision.

Now as for keyboards, theres quite a bit out there. If you really want the less forcy ones, definitely go with the Cherry Blue and Cherry Red keyboards and consider Browns if you want. Good brands include Cooler Master, Corsair, Steelseries, and Razer.

In my opinon, do not go with Razer because the build qualities of the keyboards tend to be very iffy. Many of my friends have gotten Razer and a lot have reported issues after a year or two so that is your call. Don't get me wrong, they are good key boards, but if you are thinking in the long term, keep that in mind.

If you want to keep your wallet somewhat happy, keyboards like the CM Storm Quickfire Pro/Rapid/TK, Steelseries 6Gv2, Rosewill RK9000 or even the Razer BlackWidow Tournament Edition.

That's basically all I can say. This is from my point of view and I'm sure everyone else has their point of views. Definitely check them out in person and decide what is best for you. Good luck.

PS. (Imo, if you don't have a gaming mouse already, buy that first. Imo, it makes a bigger difference, especially if you play FPS).
