Hello
So i was wondering if i set up my fans right?
this is my case:
http://be04.cp-static.com/objects/multimedia/9/961/508253_16316053_computerbehuizingen-aerocool-xpredator-evil-en56472.jpg

The ones on the side they blow air from the outside to the inside
the one in front also blow air from the outside to the inside
and the one on top does the opposites blows air from inside to outside

so there is 5 blowing from the outside to the inside and just one doing the opposites
Is this set up right

thanks for your time: kweezeee

When you use the compressed air - be careful not to let the air hit fans at too much of an angle - that creates torque and may lead to damage on the fan
good fans should be ok - but I err on teh side of caution

if moving air will damage the fan, the fan was bad already

I tend to agree. But some fans are quite delicate and though they cope with a lot of regular cleaning they wear more when the compressed air nozzle is too close and at right angles to the blade. If there is no centripetal force to help balance against the air hitting them.

I sometimes use a cotton bud [QTip] placed gently against the back of teh fan so that any flexing of the blade is taken by that rather than the bearings. I have a lot of old kit ;)

I usually use a q tip when I take the fans out to clean them

Well you can put far more force on the blades with that than th ecompressed air. So using two is better... one to keep teh blade still and take the force you direct, and one to spin gently against the blade edge where the dust sticks more. You can placea sheet of paper under the fan to take any loosened debris

So I have a question. I have 5 fans. I have the 2 up top and the 1 in the back as exhaust fans and the front and side as intake. This would be correct yes?

As long as the fans aren't fighting each other, its all good.

Fans 101 on the side is still relevant.

Get some filters for your fans then they wont get all dusty and you just have to clean or replace the filter

When it comes to air flow as everyone has said, rears and tops are exhaust and rest are intakes, part of this is due to heat rising, you may as well make use of physics. Also its good to have more intake than outgoing air flow to help prevent the build up of dust in the rest of the case, long as your running filters on the intakes of course.
