Pc fans
Hello
So i was wondering if i set up my fans right?
this is my case:
http://be04.cp-static.com/objects/multimedia/9/961/508253_16316053_computerbehuizingen-aerocool-xpredator-evil-en56472.jpg

The ones on the side they blow air from the outside to the inside
the one in front also blow air from the outside to the inside
and the one on top does the opposites blows air from inside to outside

so there is 5 blowing from the outside to the inside and just one doing the opposites
Is this set up right

thanks for your time: kweezeee

I usually set front fans to blow in and everything else to suck out.

If two front fans then set them to push air inside the case and everything else to suck air out.
If one front fan then set front fan and sidepanel fans to push air inside, back and top fans to suck air out.
Back and top fans should always suck the hot air out from the case, no matter the configuration.

A lot depends on your internal layout. Those four fans on the side should imho be blowing in rather than out. That ensures your GPU fans are getting cooler air direclty rather than warmed by other parts.

Check what direction your PSU fan is moving air too. It should always vent out of the case.

There is a hidden advantage to having those side fans pulling air into the box. Some of thier noise will travel with the air they move. How much difference that will make will depend on quality and fan speed and ambient noises.
Just positive vs negative pressure, varies by case and fan position/speed, you'll just have to guess and check, but honestly if your pc isn't overheating or anywhere close to it, as long as the fans are more or less balanced, you are talking an inconsequential difference. Cases these days are filled with fans for the lulz pretty much. In the past computers had like 1 80mm fan in the front, sometimes nothing in the back even, back then it mattered much more, but these days the baseline tends to be massive overkill for looks. I mean seriously they sell 250 mm fans now.

I mean look, no fan holes....

If you want to get fanatical you can whip out a fog machine and check the airflow lol

Sounds like you have it set up well. Usually 1 exhaust fan on top or rear top is enough unless you have a cluttered case

So I have a question. I have 5 fans. I have the 2 up top and the 1 in the back as exhaust fans and the front and side as intake. This would be correct yes?

Very like how I have mine. I have one large one up top then another slightly smaller at the top and back.
My system runs col and quiet

Yeah mine runs cool too so I figured it's ok but I was just checking

One tip I can offer is that having a powerful fan at the front pulling air into the box will mean that fan gets more dust than others. It's usually easier to keep clean and you can see the dust.

So I recommend that fan is set to as fast as you can get it without increasing the noise too much. Every couple of times I clean it ... I open the box and clean the others.

I will have to adjust the front fan for more air flow. I have have 4 Thermaltake AF0026's and they flow 90cfm+ at full speed. The only bad thing is that they're not pwm fans. They have to be manually adjusted. I may get a fan controller eventually. There is a built in foam filter for the front fan on my case and I use compressed air on a regular basis to clean the filter, fans and the inside of the case. Also about every 8-12 months I open the case up and do a thorough cleaning along with taking out all of the fans and cleaning the blades and stuff.

When you use the compressed air - be careful not to let the air hit fans at too much of an angle - that creates torque and may lead to damage on the fan
good fans should be ok - but I err on teh side of caution

Ok thats good to know
