Nvidia 50 Series inside my PC?

I was thinking of buying one of the new cards when it suddenly struck me that the new cooling design Nvidia has employed might not work with my PC.
You see, i have an air cooler sitting about 1cm above and on the left my current gpu. This would block the left intake fan on a 50 series gpu, right?

From what I know new FE GPUs still have intake from the bottom. They just blow through and not sideways like before due to tiny pcb.

We will know more about thermals very soon. I personally doubt that new FE cards will cause any additional trouble to CPU air coolers.

Shouldn't do. Nvidia 5090 is the same length and width but lower height than their 4090. JayzTwoCents did a unboxed and comparison of this. Linking below but if that gets filter out just look for his most recent video

In previous versions size increase is length and height. For traditional installation the top part of the height is always at the same position in a case. It's bottom part that has increased, whether that be from a 1 card slot to a 4 card slot the top of the card is the same position.

If you go founders, it will be exhaust not an intake (on any card) as to not pull in heat from the cpu so won't be an issue really.

If you insert the GPU horizontal the fans blow up. The FE blows a fan on the GPU core and the other fan blows air through a heatpipe cooler out the top side of the card. A CPU tower cooler will not interfere.

If you plan to get a 5080 or 5090 you might need a better more spacious Case anyways. As the 5080 is still a beefy sized card, larger than ANY 7900 XTX

Dumb design, isn't it? According to Nvidia, hot air is better than no air!

I thought they were both going top to bottom, honestly after seeing how complex the pc was and that water blocking it would be a pain I didn't pay the founders much attention.

I wish I could post a picture of my PC here. I have a PNY 3080 12GB in my case right now with a lot of horizontal room to spare. I have a NZXT H7 Flow case.

You can upload a picture to your Steam Artwork and then link it in Forums and such.

3080 and 3080 Ti are often around 13 inch long. Trust me when I day it's small compared to a 4090, 5080 or 5090. But some 5080 are larger then others.

If it's like the ASUS TUF OC version then you're having air blown upwards at the rear of the card, which is then potentially sucked into the first intake fan of the CPU cooler. I don't think it's causing much of a problem, but I agree the overall design today is a bit lacking. The mobo design could do with some work. The slot needs to be lowered and cases need to figure out how to redirect this flow of heat.

Beat bet with the larger heavier cards is using a setup where the card mounts and sits vertical. This also takes alot of stress off the card so it's not holding onto the Motherboard PCIE slot
