3070 upgrade to 50 series?
I would like to upgrade my 3070. Which 50 series card is worth upgrading to?

5090 obviously right, go bog or go home
Wait for benchmarks.

3070 will also get a bit of a performance from the new drivers/settings available.

I personally like the 5070Ti for the price/performance/VRAM balance. Or the crazy 5090 for being so significantly stronger that even at $2000 it's not a bad value.
But I also recommend to wait for reviews. We don't know if MSRP is even realistic in the first few months. Founder Editions will likely be very limited and close to impossible to buy for most people. Especially outside of US.

At least the 5070, but like the others said, wait for 3rd party benchmarks.

If you don't buy a 5090 you might as well just sell your PC and game on your phone.

Just kidding. Any of them would be a good boost, although a better value would be getting a used 4080 super or something like that. They say the stocks of the 50 series GPUs are going to be very low so you might not even be able to acquire one for months and definitely not at MSRP.

Wait for the benchmarks. If not desperate to upgrade, maybe also wait for the 5000 mid range cards.
I'd aim for 5080 otherwise it'll probably end up being a waste of time and money
3070 is still a good card, the biggest drawback being the 8GB of VRAM.

I'd say 5080, as newer AAA games are already pushing 11GB of VRAM as is
(and the 5070 is 12GB, which feels like planned obsolescence)

I also don't think it's worth $1000, so 'hold off until they catch up with AMD in terms of VRAM'?

3070 should still be able to play most games at 1080 high/ max. If you are fine with lowering resolution, it can still last you another generation.
Yes for 1080p or even 1080p/144Hz 3070 is fine.keep in mind what games you play most where you want to see better performance. If your CPU is a big factor in some of those games, holding onto current GPU and moving up to a more modern CPU might help more then you think.

I see people going from a Ryzen 2700X or 3800X to a 7700X or 7800X3D while keeping their RTX 2080 or Radeon 6700 XT and the cpu + motherboard and ram made a big difference

If you want a high refresh rate experience, it may be worth it to go for a 5700X3D. If you are fine with a 60fps experience, it should still be good barring a few outlier CPU heavy titles.

Depends what games you play but this CPU is not enough for some games for stable 60fps.
You will also see more stutters comparing to a stronger CPU.
