My Farewell To Microsoft OS
I used AI to do it for me as I feel that is the most appropriate way to say farewell

Dear Microsoft

As I close this chapter in my relationship with your operating systems, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for the countless hours, memories, and experiences we've shared over the past three decades. From Windows 3.x to *Windows 11, you've been more than just an operating system - you've been a trusted companion, a creative catalyst, and a gateway to endless possibilities.

I remember the excitement of upgrading from MS-DOS to Windows 95, marvelling at the sleek interface and innovative features that made my computer feel like a cutting-edge machine. I recall late nights spent working on projects with Windows XP, feeling proud of our collaborative efforts as we brought ideas to life. (AI just made that bit up i said nothing of the sort)

And who could forget the thrill of upgrading to Vista, only to later navigate the challenges of 7?

Throughout the years, you've been more than just an operating system - you've been a part of my daily routine, a *trusted friend that's always there when I need it. You've seen me laugh, cry, and create some of my most memorable moments.

As I move on to new horizons (with Bazzite OS :P), I want to thank you for the memories we've made together. Your dedication to innovation, your commitment to user experience (pfff), and your unwavering support have been a constant source of inspiration.

So as I bid farewell, I do so with appreciation and gratitude for all that we've shared (certainly like sharing these days)

Thank you, Microsoft, for being an integral part of my computing journey.

May future generations find joy, productivity, and wonder in the operating systems to come. (good luck with that one)

Farewell, Windows!

* = take with a large dose of sailt.

well It should be interesting feed back then with a dash of humour of cause.

Their next gen console that OS they should offer to (PC bundle it with an Xbox Game Pad) so then you have a PC Steam BOX or if you Want an XBOX PC, I think you will a lot of people who just game and do basic desktop email web browsing type stuff would soon realise you know what I don't really need an Office Home Microsoft Computer to play games, but that's just me and there will be loads if no all who say it's a crap idea but you what that's fine to.

oh quick plug :

All those who's PC can't run windows 11 learn Linux or the e-waste is on you not MIcrosoft.

Oh btw I am a fan of AI (even if ya might not think it) but for gaming and an era of something new it could bring in the future, rest doesn't really interest me much just yet.

I remember the bright blue splash screen of Windows 1.x, and having to type "win" in the dos prompt to start it.

I've used pretty much every one (including ME, very briefly), and 7 was the best and last really good one.

But a few updates into Windows 10, everything became completely unacceptable. There are workarounds, of course, but as they've only doubled down on the worst of it with 11, it's not worth it anymore. I'll keep one WIndows 10 machine around, but I'm never touching 11.
People will disagree with this but here goes:

Vista a nightmare at the start but by the end it was a solid OS (64bit version) and one of my fav's lol

most people hated it, I like it, at the start yeah but I decided to stick with it and by the end it was a solid little OS

It is the change No body I know likes big change in anything, it annoyed the living **ap out of me when they keep moving stuff around lol stupid little things let alone big changes.

I'd always think hmm, i'll give it try (probs moan a lot along they way) even the dreaded windows 8 lol

I was a day 1 user i got my head around that and again by the time it had got to windows 8.1 it was a good solid OS for me at least.

But windows 11, I liked at the start looked at the beautiful UI and thought very nice, but now I don't know as it changed so did my feelings about the OS.

which why I ended up on bazzite.

Windows 11 It just feels to busy that's the only way i can explain it.

I remember Vista, Omg, dropped a chunk of change on that one, multibooted with XP. I had 'your video driver has stopped responding... ' constantly.

Xp on the same machine did not have those issues.

A year later, after SP1 came out. (or so)... I installed Vista again, all the service packs.. and lo and behold.. 'your video driver has stopped responding..'

I have never gotten that issue either before or ANYTIME after Vista.

But dont you just love tech lol :)
I love tech.. I cannot stand the dirty business that overshadows it.

Windows 10 started out okay.. but then when they started pushing windows 11 'features' into it.. I lost all trust in MS (as if I had much of it left to begin with)...

Off to Linux I go .. hidey-ho.

Couldn't be happier.

There is really little difference between 10 and 11 really, windows 11 has the much more polished looking UI and feel but the rest i don't know it's as close to an windows 11 os as your going to get i think.

There is no need to announce your departure.
Win 11 > Win 7
