OLED Monitors are over rated
Yeah great color and contrast and zero blur in motion , but burn in, dead pixels after years, text clarity, 4 hour pixel refresh, changing a bunch of my settings for theme and too much to even remember I just think OLED is over-rated if there was none of these issues with OLED I think it would be great but a lot of them are a deal breaker for me, the ABL is whack, I like less bright monitors so I haven't included that in the complaints i have with OLED

All monitors have problems. It's just a question of what your priorities are.

MacType can be used to correct the text problem.

AutoActions can be used to switch HDR according to app.

Just like you, I have a Alienware OLED. It's over two years old now and still showing no signs of burn-in. Anyway, it's still under warranty.

What brightness do you use? How long do you use it everyday? and How often do you keep the same thing on the screen? I returned my OLED yesterday it was the new AOC AGON one, I am probably going to get Alienware OLED or LG OLED, but im not sure because i heard its a matte screen with LG and the alienware is 360hz but its QD-OLED instead of WOLED. The thing that freaked me out the most was when I woke up after accidently leaving an image on screen and i had text retained in the screen but it went away but that really freaked me out because i accidently leave the monitor on all the time

What about new mini LED monitors? Aren't they a very good alternative to OLED monitors?
The only downside I know so far of mini LED is bad viewing angles, can only sit / look frontal to them.

I haven't seen a Mini-LED in person yet but the blooming issues on them make me want to stay clear of those unless I get one for $199 or less anything more than that with the blooming just isn't justifiable to me really wish micro led was already affordable but you gotta spend 20,000$ for a microLED if you want one in the current state
I'm not doing any of that and just use it as any other monitor. I have one of the 240Hz WOLED panels. monitor goes to sleep after a few minutes on inactivity and does it's pixel cleaning process in the backround that can be interruped and it will just say it was incomplete. no big deal it will run again some other time.

Which monitor is it you got that can auto sleep after few minutes of inactivity? That would be a very useful feature for me

I have the 32" LG Ultragear 32GS95UE-B
https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-32gs95ue-b-gaming-monitor
I have a ASUS ROG 240Hz WOLED 1440P just for gaming, I dunno pretty sweet playing on this, use my old ASUS ROG 360Hz IPS 1080P for browsing ect and any static things.

Just get two monitors, best of both worlds.

Windows lets you set monitor sleep as low as 1 minute.

As someone who owns both OLED tv's and monitors I can tell you that under normal use cases burn in is not an issue. I currently game on a LG UltraGear 45" OLED that is about 2 years old at this point and still looks as good as the day I got it. I have hundreds of hours in games with static hud elements and there is zero image retention. I use it like I would any other monitor, no special precautions.

Dead pixels again are a non-issue. OLEDs are fairly new but generally speaking OLED pixels are rated for about 100,000 hours which is close to 35 years at 8 hours per day use. You are far more likely to have some other component fail and that's pretty much true of any display technology.

Text clarity, I've never had an issue personally but I've seen the same said of LEDs and I think that is more of a pixel layout thing (RGB vs BGR) than anything to do with the technology.

4 hour pixel refresh, maybe some displays have it set at that. The ones that I own are more in the 8 hour range. Even if it was 4 hours I don't see why that's a problem. The monitor doesn't just shut down if you are using it, it waits until you shut it down or it goes into standby to do its thing which only takes a couple of minutes and if you need to use it before its finished it just stops the process and gives a message saying that it didn't complete. Not a big deal.

Changing settings? I don't even know how to respond to that. I've never had a display of any type change themes or settings on its own.

Thanks for the thorough response, I am hoping I can get an OLED again when the new screens come out and find their place in the market, I paid 499 for the new AOC AGON OLED thats a second generation of their original QD-OLED monitor it was great but I want to try to get an OLED for 399 since it was on sale for 399 on black friday. Not sure how those compare to the ones that cost a bit more like 600$ - 700$ cant find a review comparing the two, ag276qzd2 is the model number of what i had

me too. why are there no test about how much you can dim monitors.
currently i drive my monitor at 30% brightness and contrast at day and 0% brightness and contrast at night.
i once used a tv as monitor and the main problem was you couldnt dim it enough. it was still burning eyes.
If you take care of the monitor there should be no image retention or ghosting for a good while. It's helpful to use a second non oled monitor. Also the qd tech is much better than a typical regular oled. I use low brightness but I play games with static elements with hdr on all the time and no issues so far
OLED monitors sound like a pain to maintain. The OLED monitor users probably have to read their monitors a bedtime story and tuck them in at night. Go to sleep, let's be safe, we'll play a little more tomorrow.

I'll stick to my IPS. A good quality gaming IPS display is still the best all rounder. When OLED monitors become safe to use as a monitor and not just for fullscreen motion I'll consider it.
