OLED Monitors are over rated
Yeah great color and contrast and zero blur in motion , but burn in, dead pixels after years, text clarity, 4 hour pixel refresh, changing a bunch of my settings for theme and too much to even remember I just think OLED is over-rated if there was none of these issues with OLED I think it would be great but a lot of them are a deal breaker for me, the ABL is whack, I like less bright monitors so I haven't included that in the complaints i have with OLED

If you take care of the monitor there should be no image retention or ghosting for a good while. It's helpful to use a second non oled monitor. Also the qd tech is much better than a typical regular oled. I use low brightness but I play games with static elements with hdr on all the time and no issues so far
how long have you had it for QD-OLED is beautiful but scary

All monitors have problems. It's just a question of what your priorities are.

MacType can be used to correct the text problem.

AutoActions can be used to switch HDR according to app.

Just like you, I have a Alienware OLED. It's over two years old now and still showing no signs of burn-in. Anyway, it's still under warranty.

What brightness do you use? How long do you use it everyday? and How often do you keep the same thing on the screen? I returned my OLED yesterday it was the new AOC AGON one, I am probably going to get Alienware OLED or LG OLED, but im not sure because i heard its a matte screen with LG and the alienware is 360hz but its QD-OLED instead of WOLED. The thing that freaked me out the most was when I woke up after accidently leaving an image on screen and i had text retained in the screen but it went away but that really freaked me out because i accidently leave the monitor on all the time

My PC is on all day, so must be at least 12 hours a day.

My brightness is fairly low because the room it's in is North facing, so quite dark at the best of times.

I do take sensible measures to avoid things being on the screen for a long time. Wallpaper changes every ten mins. Turn HUD's down in games. Only use HDR when it's worth using. Avoid desktop clutter.

I have been told by an expert in this stuff that I am being silly, that these monitors are designed to run in HDR all day long, but I try to be sensible about it.

Just set the monitor to be turned off after ten minutes of inactivity. That's what I do.

The only thing that is a pain is the four hours thing. That's really inconvenient and there's no way round that.

Thank you, I gotta set up auto monitor shutoff with my linux install, that seems to be the only reason i had some image retention issues, Appreciate your response, Wish I didn't return the OLED
I like 400 nit HDR on my IPS so I think max 1000 nit in games and movies world be even cooler, but OLED monitors with 1000 nit are usually 2K or 4K, and they're expensive, also my graphics card (NVIDIA GTX 1060 3Gb) is too old for these resolutions.

I guess I'd wait a year or three until this technology becomes more common.

I can't do it I'm getting another OLED monitor everything else looks broken in comparison its so bad I'm a fool for returning the monitor and caving to the OLED critics
I bought a oled on 2nd computer but not for the colors but for input lag and have 0,1 or 0,3 ms versus 1 or more than normal monitors.
I built a new PC and the Alienware AW3423DWF was the icing on the cake. It was the best purchase for me to see the results from a new build, besides just more fps. It took my
gaming experience to the next lvl of enjoyment and immersion. Out side of that, yeah over rated. Lol.

These monitor aren’t really for beginners, but for someone that feels worthy. Lol. If sweating was more important then immersion I wouldn’t have bought a 34” by 21:9, but I don’t see any game worth sweating.

I use a 2nd monitor a 27” ACER IPS XB270HU that was one of the first IPS to use G-sync and that too was risky when I bought it.

I have a 3 yr warrantee, so I don’t worry about it. I already want a new card, so feeding the beast never ends. : /
