and in steam game controller bindings you can bind them to to whatever you want
If I toggle it back to Xbox mode, the analog triggers work again, but no gyro. Not sure if that is how the 8BitDo Ultimate works, but it's something to look into.
Personally, if you're getting a controller for gryo, I would recommend the DualSense.
Unfortunately, the Dualsense has no hall effect joysticks. I'm probably paranoid to think every controller will get drift, but rather avoid the issue if I can.
Drift is caused by gunk and dirt getting in the actuators, just look after your controller and it wont happen, I have a ton of Xbox and Dual Sense pads, not one has stick drift.
I have an 8bitDo Ultimate 2C with hall effect joysticks, but I prefer the sticks on the DualSense.
Although the hall effect sticks don't drift when set to joystick mouse, if I decrease the deadzone enough, there will be a noticeable skip of the mouse cursor when it first moves. I have to increase the deadzone above this point to avoid the skip. So instead of avoiding drift, I'm adjusting to avoid the skip.
Now I should mention what I'm referring to is when someone uses custom settings in Steam Input to eliminate the deadzone as much as possible in order to get the best fine movement control. You're not going to run into this issue out of the box. At stock settings, all controllers will have a larger deadzone.
