any way to make my dedicated gpu appear in dxdiag?
it is affecting 2 of my laptops. several newer unreal engine games will only run on the integrated gpu(i have to actually disable the dedicated gpu for them to run), because my dedicated gpu does not appear in dxdiag. it is limited to unreal engine 4 games however. other games will generally work, with the exception of age of mythology, which have the same issue, except that is does not crash. dark reign 2 also fails to run on the dedicated gpu. if i could just make it appear in dxdiag, the problem would be solved. or so i believe. the gpus is gt 630m and gtx 770m.

the thing is that certain newer unreal engine 4 games can only run on a gpu present in dxdiag so, unless my gpu appears in dxdiag, the game can not use it.

It's not like that; simply dictate the GPU used via Windows Graphics Settings; where you add the game exe to the listing and change its options to High Performance GPU.

unreal engine 4 games does not work like that. they can not use settings from nvidia control panel. they have to read dxdiag data. they can only render on a gpu that appears in dxdiag. that is currently only my intel hd 4600. that is unfortunately too weak. only way to get good framerates in tales of arise for example is to run it in a very small window. if however the gtx 770m had appeared in dxdiag, like the 1660 ti did on my other laptop, then it could have been used to render the game. it runs on my gtx 650 ti boost and that appears in dxdiag. both the gtx 770m and gtx 650 ti boost supports feature level 11.0

Chances are that you might have a configuration issue somewhere if your 770M doesn't appear.
Most laptops with NVIDIA dGPU do use NVIDIA Optimus for graphics switching and in that case. both GPUs will appear in dxdiag or any other software that does read GPU data
it is not limited to just that laptop. i have another laptop that have intel hd 3000 and gt 630m and also there, the dedicated gpu does not appear in dxdiag. on both pcs the situation is exactly the same, even though they have slightly different hardware. i already mentioned in the first post that it affected 2 of my laptops. i am looking for a way to make both gpus appear in dxdiag.

You can try to use DDU to uninstall both the Intel iGPU driver and the NVIDIA dGPU driver if installed. once both are removed.
Install the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ one from Intel first and only then install the NVIDIA driver afterwards.
I know it sounds weird but yeah. Optimus on anything pre Maxwell is simply bizarre to say the least.

It's been a while since I had this problem, but have you tried to right-click the card in the device manager > display adapters and set to enabled? I think that is what worked for me.
it is already enabled. i am using it most days. reinstalling my driver like that seems kind of excessive so, i want to try other solutions first. i will have it mind however if everything else fails.
