Valve Index Request

Steam, please don’t abandon the Index, I don’t regret buying it for a second, but may I make a request to make it Perfect for me?

I enjoy playing Elite Dangerous, in VR there are still occasions I require to enter data using my real keyboard/monitor…..please enable a true PassThrough whereby I can just see what’s in front of me, desk, keyboard, mouse, monitor to enable data entry without having to move my Index up and peek under it.

What do you mean by “true pass through”

If you mean not stylized with chaperone, you can already do this.

You have to enable camera passthrough in the SteamVR settings, then double press the action button along the bottom edge of the Index HMD to turn on passthrough camera.

I think he means semi see through, like the Apple VR, which failed miserably BTW.

Overall I don't see how it's possible unless there is a way to toggle VR screen vs open lense otherwise if you always have semi open lense the immersion is not good not to mention the low light levels you would experience

I thought id explained myself.......the ability to see what is in front of me without any augmentation.

I don't think it's something that can be done with software OP, it would require a set of camera (at least one) and a button to engage that cam to do what you want. Like a button on the side of the headset and when you touch it, it would open a window and you would literally see in front of you. maybe in the next version
