Installed new RAM
And it's all gone to hell.

My motherboard is ASUS M4A77TD and I had 2x 2GB Team Elite DDR3 1333mhz already on my mobo. The PC works fine, went out to buy more RAM yesterday because of ridiculous Call of Duty: Ghosts requirement. The ram I bought was ADATA 4GB DDR3 1333mhz. All these have the same voltage and frequency.

I plugged the 4GB RAM my blue port and the 2x 2GB sticks my black ports. My computer won't load the BIOS. I thought it was faulty, went to store today and picked up 2x 2GB off the same brand. Same frequency and voltage. Still nothing. With all these sticks in, my computer won't load the BIOS. I plugged the new sticks in ONLY and it started loading my Windows but then went to bluescreen of death. These sticks can't be dead, either I'm doing something wrong or it's all gone to hell.

Will it load on just the old RAM plugged in?

Yes, the PC will start fine with the old RAM plugged in. Right now I'm on with the old RAM. It's weird, the store couldn't have gave me three faulty RAM sticks in a row. I think this could be a issue on my mobo. My mobo supports up to 16GB of RAM so 8GB should be good.

Your motherboard is dual channel so what you are doing is making one channel of RAM different size of the other channel of RAM. To get 16GB with dual channel RAM you load 4 matching 4GB DIMMS in. I personally wouldn't be trying to use odd sizes/specs together like that. But the motherboard manual says you can mix sizes.

Take a look at your motherboard manual:

For a test you could try putting a 4GB in A2 and A1, then put 2GB in B2 and B1. Least that would make the dual channels equal and it might work.

Could be the timing on the new RAM

Try these ideas:

I'd first clear CMOS and then try the new RAM.

Hey, thanks for the answer.

Currently I have matching sizes in all of the ports but it still won't load. Should I just put the new sticks to the black ports? The funny thing is also, my friend has the exact same mobo and he bought 4GB A-DATA DDR3 1333mhz and sticked it alone on the blue port. The other two 2GB RAM sticks he had, sticked it in the black ports. His computer works fine and loads fine. For me, this whole clearing CMOS is greek to me and I really don't know how to do it.

Hey! I checked the topic. So the thing is, I have to go to my BIOS settings and there change the timings to match the RAM I bought?

Ah, so you only got one 4GB. Look at owners manual I linked to you. Shows how to go through the BIOS menu screens and everything.

Think I might be typing wrong with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ english put.

Currently I have:

2x 2GB A-DATA DDR3 1333mhz (back in their packages now)
2x 2GB Team Elite DDR3 1333mhz (these are STICKED IN right now so that I could be writing here.)

All of the above sticked in to my motherboard, it won't load my BIOS.

All of the RAMs are dual channel.

Do they all have the same CAS latency? From the user manual: "Always install DIMMs with the same CAS latency. For optimum compatibility, we recommend that you obtain memory modules from the same vendor" (matching sets)

Both of the brands are CL9.

Such a noobish question but how can I know the timings of the sticks?

Some new info I found. They both are CL9 and the PC3 info for the A-DATA is 10600 and the Team Elite one is PC3-10666 could this be the issue? Can these two not work together because of this? I found out that the timings are identical.

Test each stick of the new RAM on their own. Use one stick, let the PC load - if it works and no issues after testing games/stress tests, good. Do the same for the other new stick of RAM, put it in just by itself and test it out.

It's very likely that you have just one faulty stick of RAM in the set you picked up. And yes, it is possible you could have gotten a couple of sets with 1 bad stick.

If you find that all sticks work fine on their own, then its either a compatibility issue with your MB and the RAM or you're having some kind of faulty hardware issue with the DIMM slots on your MB.

On a side note, it's usually not ideal to mix and match RAM - usually you won't get any issues but sometimes you just run into problems like you're having.

Try to plug two sticks to first blue/first black and two sticks to second blue, second black.

A miracle just happened. I sticked 1x 2GB A-DATA on B2 slot and it works. My computer boots up to Windows so everything's cool. The only thing that troubles me that every time I shut down, it shows me that hardware has changed, re-configure in BIOS. Everytime I save on BIOS, it won't boot properly. I can get to Windows by hard bootin, pressing the ON button for few seconds and turning my PC back on.

It gives the same message again if I just load it with default values, it lets me load to Windows and it shows that I have 6GB of RAM. So is clearing the CMOS now the option to have a prober boot?

Maybe so.. Or just go into bios and set to default.

But to clear the cmos, you have to open your pc up.. Look for the cmos on the motherboard and take the first thing off and put it on the thrid for a few seconds and then put it back where it was. Look it up on youtube, it's pretty simple. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9RnIj-EcdQ

First off, check the speed rating of what you got. Your mobo requires 10600 @1333MHz of DDR3, then check what rad87gn said about the slots. Normally you install closest to the cpu, but possibly in this case, you'd install farthest away. Frankly, you should have gotten an error beep of one long two short beeps if you installed the ram incorrectly.

what cpu?

many amd am3 c2 rev cpus cant run fast with 4 dimms

post a cpuz validation link
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
cpuz -> about tab -> validation button -> submit button
itll open a browser, copy the url(address) and paste it here
