Graphics Card Error Code 43

Ok so my wifes pc started playing up today and her pc crashed and said there was a problem with the graphics card and then restarted.

She played for an hour and then the pc crashed to desktop and she came and got me. I looked at OpenHardwareMonitor and noticed it said the temp was 51oc but the fans were at 0. I opened the side plate and saw the fan was still spinning.

Restarted pc and updated to the latest drivers. She tried game and it came up a pixelated mess right away, Crashed then gave a white screen of death. Once back on the desktop it didnt recognize the GPU anymore and it wasnt coming up in open hardware monitor.
Device manager said windows detected an issue with the card and that it wasnt working.

I tried rolling back the drivers but the issue still remains. However once I rolled the drivers back and got back to desktop it had red/orange lines across the screen in places. I'm told this is artifacting?? And that the card is indeed the problem.

My question is this - if I get the same model make as her current card (gtx780) is it just a simple case of swapping out this card for the other and everything should work normally again. The only difference would be the make of the card (geforce to Asus)

Reinstall OS? To fix a GPU the OP can clearly tell is dying. You're funny.

If you want to test your luck, Amazon has some "good" used gtx 780, one from EVGA for 250 USD for example.

It's a gamble but the possibility is there.

I can def. understand that one does not wish to try an unknown factor like a totally different gpu.
This is a tuffie, hmmm. Not sure what I would do in this scenario. Prob. look into new and compatible gpu/s with my existing psu and board.

People sometimes think irrationally .

If you give now a little more money , it will pay back in a certain time and from that moment you ll be on profit . Also 6+GB VRAM is more viable . 250W means nothing but troubles for such a performance .
