In the UK the 6800XT is around £570
6950XT is £700
4070 Is £590
Someone else just stated the 6800 XT is evenly between the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 in performance, and I commented on it as I felt it was a bit off.
But yeah, the RTX 3080 isn't relevant on the buying market anymore. But with the 6950 XT both being a bit more expensive than the RTX 4070, and namely being much more power hungry, the 6800 XT is still a relevant point for offering comparable rasterization performance to the RTX 4070, and is cheaper. It falls behind it a lot in ray tracing, of course, but then so does the 6950 XT.
6800 XT is 550
4070 is 599
However NVIDIA is already on-track to slow down the 4070 production as well as lower the pricing. The 4070 should drop 50-100 or so in the coming weeks
WHAT?! We get screwed in Europe!
At those prices I'd probably go with the RTX 4070 in general, unless I was sure ray tracing didn't matter at all and instead wanted the extra 4 GB VRAM, then I might go with the slightly cheaper 6800 XT. The 6800 XT and RTX 4070 are plus or minus-ish in rasterized performance, but the RTX 4070 will be far, far ahead in ray tracing.
In the US, the RTX 4070 is much more expensive than the RTX 4070, which as someone else said is close to the RX 6950 XT, which is quite a bit better in rasterized performance and has way more VRAM, but still falls behind in ray tracing and will use a LOT more power. That last part is what turned me off from considering it.
No idea why it's not that way for you. AMD products make less sense for those of you in the UK it seems.
Newegg US has 6950XT for $629.
Close enough to be considered similar price in my opinion.
Its a PC used for PC only games so RTS, RPG's, Total warhammer, baldurs gate etc, I dont think raytracing will EVER be an issue if im honest.
When I played Dead space and Res 4 on my Xbox series X I favour framerate personally so I dont think raytracing is more than a gimmick from my own experience.
6800 non-XT seems like a heck of a deal for 450 USD considering that is what most 3060 Ti go for
Amazon UK is not Europe
Amazon UK is strictly for Britain and Ireland. Outside of that, like say France or Germany... they definitely would pay like 50-100 more for the same GPU
It would cost me over 50$ to ship it and to have insurance coverage on it for over $500
4070 and 6950xt cost about €649 in Germany (mindfactory.de)
I still get asked when buying things, if it's for me or a "client". Just yesterday was pricing 4090's compared to online for UK, snagged one and got it shipped that morning. UK sites wanted 2099 quid for a certain model, I got it for $1900 USD total cost of taxes and shipping to save them like, 500 pounds.
Can you order me one haha, I work for the NHS say its for one of their PC's!
When one sees a problem, another sees an opportunity. :)
