any way to get a gtx 950 working on my old motherboard?

i have a pc from HP with an old pegatron motherboard. currently i have a gtx 650 ti boost but, i have a gtx 950 that i want to get to work. i know that the issue is that the bios is too old but, i am not sure what i can do about it.

It should work just fine. I have taken plenty of old HP desktops that had 4th Gen Intel CPU and they went from a GT 550 to GTX 960 no problems.

Now if it's 2nd or 3rd gen or older then yes it might not work past the GT/GTX 7xx series

Some kept saying it was because it required UEFI but I have used GTX 10, 16 and even RTX 30 series on non UEFI Motherboard with PCIE 2.0 no problems

you said it was a dell or oem, that does not have a bios update, then the only way would be to use a 2nd gpu, or its onboard with the dedicated
and after it boots and loads drivers it will work

you can set windows to use the onboard or weak as a secondary display for browser/chat or whatever else

You can plug in newer cards even to LGA775 platforms as well without any real issue. UEFI isn't a requirement.
The only thing you should know is, if you are running an ancient CPU like Core 2 or AMD Phenom. do not install the latest NVIDIA drivers (anything 555.85 and newer) as they require the POPCNT instruction

i used a gtx 750 on a motherboard with an intel core 2 duo 3 ghz and it worked well, though it ended up bottlenecked by the cpu. cpu therefore does not seem to be the issue. not even the 750 worked on my pegatron motherboard however, despite working on the other motherboard with a core 2 duo. as of right now: my pegatrn motherboard is limited to 600 series and older. the pc is not dell, it is HP. the pc does not even boot the bios with the gtx 950 in.

Yea IDK. I've actually had more luck with old but still good AMD AM3 Motherboards. Even ones from like 2010 where the last BIOS update was in 2012 and have no problems even with RTX 3080

my pc is from 2009. though i got it in 2011. it came with a gtx 550 or something which i replaced with a gtx 650 ti boost which is better.

Yea honestly it's way too old to keep around. Turn it into an office/ media PC with an SSD and Win10 22H2
