[ LF tips ] New monitor after 14 years using LCD screen;
Bought this HAYOM - MO 6005 23,5 inches and.....OMG! IS HUGE!

I've placed on the same pedestal, same position my last monitor always have been to make it comfortable with this replacement.
My old LCD screen had a drastic stain on screen, making hard to see darkness colors so most of games were being left to dust because they don't have gamma/brightness settings.

Now I'm trying to get used with this high resolution monitor that can run up to 1920x1080 which do run 75hz but the desktop get so tiny....everything is so minimal and for that I'm running on 1152x864 resolution to keep 75hz, otherwise all other sets were restricted to -60hz.

And on Ultra High definition resolution sets, they all are restricted to 60 hz which get me disappointed anyway.

What tips or suggestion, can you point out to make this big screen be more suitable to apps running on front like Steam ( right now, everything is so freaking big ), games ( best perfomance if possible ) and desktop working area;

that lcd display is most likely backlit by ccfl tubes, those tubes can turn dark or orangeish color when failing
for most you can get a led backlight conversion kit, and add a knob to the back for backlight brightness

or just replace it
you can easily find a 24+in 1080p 144-165hz display for around $100usd

if things look huge, in windows set display scaling to 100%

Scale was already set on 100% and still look enormous. (100-125% are the only options but 125% getting bigger* and condensed)

However advanced setting for this category can allow to tweak any determined number but it warns apps, and texts may be hard to read. Should I test?

Just set OS DPI Scaling to 100% otherwise it will interfere with many apps; especially Steam and Games; which then requires you do edit the file properties for apps that have issues in order to disable scaling on a per-app basis.

It would be better if you actually had a good monitor and not some Chinese no-name junk.

Your opnion. And no need to name and shame. Every popular brand ( my old screen LG ) lived while it last. This new one imported from China it was cheap compared to LG, Acer and Toshiba available on the stock at physical stores.

23.5 inches isn't even large at all. That's about average. My main monitor in my bedroom for my gaming computer is 27 inches and I occasionally play games in the living room on our 48-inch OLED with the htpc computer in there. If you want big try 48 inches.[/quote]

No what they wrote is factual: HAYOM is a "brandless" company that has almost no history in the monitor retail space, very few products and no one has heard of it. It's cheap for a reason too: 75 hz for a 1080p screen isn't even fast. Most 1080p monitors sold retail today are 144 hz or faster.

a 17in 1152x684 crt tubes were about 85ppi,

24in 1920x1080 is about 92ppi

images should look smaller on the lcd display if windows display scaling is 100%

be sure the res is set to native in gpu control panel
My mistake for missunderstading that comment then but I may still need to get adapted with the change. For years...coff...coff...decades I've been running 720p and when I try to stay at it....too large. I may going have to use 1080p resolution.
And by the way I'm used and comfortable with 75hz but UHD resolutions can't run at those frequencies ( not on this screen ).
At least get a screen that uses DP and has at least 120-144 Hz
24 and 27 inch w/ 1080p/144Hz are like $80-100 now.
32 inch w/ 1440p/165Hz are under $200 now.

23.5 inches is actually more on the small side for monitors. That's probably why things look smaller to you. To use 1080p a larger screen like 27" is usually a good idea.

Also you may want to stop referring to 1080p as UHD. UHD is 4K, not 1080p. 1080p is just HD or High Definition. Well referring to computer monitors and HDTV's UHD is 4K. UHD means something different in the world of Digital Cinema.

1080p is ideal for 17-24 inches

27 or higher then you really want to look at 1440p

At least to a certain point before maybe the aim should be 2160p

Issuing blanket statements like that is generally not a good idea. It all depends on the person and what their tastes are.

For example: I couldn't use 1440p @ 27" myself. Everything would be too small. I'm getting older (almost 50), my vision isn't as good as it used to be. I need 1080p @ 27" or more (I had a 1080p 32" screen years ago and loved it) to see games and text correctly. And no windows scaling isn't perfect. A lot of apps and games do not scale up with windows scaling enabled.

are you using vga input (blue 15pin sub-d)
that may limit the refresh rate
dl-dvi-d or dp can do 1080p165+hz or 4k60-120

crt doesnt have 'pixels' as much as comb filter, beam hits parts to light up the that colored spot

lcd has individual sub pixels, each can be controlled

non native or unevenly scaled image on lcd will look blurry
if its a 1080p (1920x1080) display, then half that (960x540) would look good, but 720p on 1080p panel will not scale evenly

Even HDMI to HDMI on UHD sets were locking refresh rate so I went back to vga. Have both connectors and adapters.
Is not LCD. Is a LED monitor now.

Using VGA on a 1080p LED panel is a mistake. It degrades image quality severely. You should be using direct HDMI <-> HDMI between video card and monitor minimum but displayport would be better.
