what speed should i set my RAM in the bios?
got 32gb (2x16) 3200mts ram kit, but in the bios it only measures the ram by mhz. so what speed should i set it at, 3200mhz?

enable xmp/docp, it will set everything to the rams spd profile

ddr speed is not mhz, its mhz x 2

ddr 3200 should be 1600mhz

the a-xmp profile is running it at 3200mhz

the xmp select profile may say mhz, but check the ram speed

if it boots check with cpuz

mm, ok yeah, cpuz is saying its running at 1600mhz.

task manger is saying 3200mhz though, should i just trust cpuz instead?

If the DRAM says DUAL RANK on CPU-Z, it is 3200MHz

Pretty much says it all... 1600 * 2 = 3200

ohhh, ok, i get it now.

alright, so everything set up proper then. thanks for the help guys/.
DDR is double data rate, operations occur at highs and lows of the clock. 1600mhz is the true clock speed x 2 operations per clock tick = 3200mhz effective speed. Nothing to do with dual rank.

task manager and some others show the ram 'speed' as mhz not ddr speed
Yes you want it with XMP enabled as this setting would in-turn not only apply the correct Mhz DRAM Frequency but also the Timings and Voltage
XMP MAX. RAM Speed is limited by your CPU capability not MB, keep that in mind.
I have no HW specs. to work with so I will end it at that.

not even close
cpus imc is rated to work with all dimms at the rated speeds
but cpus can run the imc way faster than the spec

but many cheap mobos will limit the ram speed, when the cpus imc or ram modules can go faster
Some chipset + cpus can be the limiting factor in what ram specs you can use but I don't think we really have those limitations on modern hardware since Intel 10th gen. Unlike only stuff such as 6th and 7th gen which had quite a limiting factor when using certain cpus on certain chipsets, then the max ram speed was limited.
