Xbox Wireless Adaptor Fix
I dont know who needs to see this today, but im sure somebody will. my trouble was with my xbox wireless adapter for windows 10, im running it on windows 11 and for some reason it was not recognised by windows and would refuse to connect to my controller. i spent an hour or so troubleshooting and researching until i came across this thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/wto635/windows_11_will_not_recognize_xbox_wireless/

following jwprox's advice worked, it helps to have whatever things you installed trying to fix it deleted before trying his fix, just so it is easier to find the driver folders after you unpack the cabinet files, but so far his fix has been reliable and fully functioning, at least for me.

in the event that it doesnt work right away for you, theres odds that a bios update (on older systems) may fix it, and failing even that, that you can install the 189kb windows xbox wireless adapter driver and seeing if pointing your adapter directly at it can fix it, best of luck gamers

People using Win11 can just as easily use an older Win7, 8 or 10 Driver. It does not need to specifically be written a certain way to support "Win11"

Pretty much all Win10 Drivers work and function properly under Win11.

What you might need to do is go through the RESET process with your particular Controller. Many still are un-aware this exists and/or how to do that.

But yes aside from a Driver, there is always a chance that either the Wireless Adapter and/or the Controller might need a Firmware Update. This is why we always suggested for Xbox One and later controllers that users use the Xbox Accessories App within the Microsoft Store App on Win10/11 as a means to check and update their controller; if needed.
