Curved displays to watch movies and TV shows
I've been looking at QD OLED monitors and quite a few are curved. I use my PC for gaming as well as to watch movies and TV shows. I'm curious how curved monitors are for video. Are curved display better for gaming, even?

I think I'd be more comfortable with a flat monitor because I use my PC for everything but I've also never seen a curved monitor in person, so I'm curious how it is for video, too.

They really shouldn't be curved unless they are around 30 inches or more. Yes this helps because if you take a 32 or 34 inch 16:9 or 21:9 ratio screen and sit it 2-3 feet from your face; if that screen was traditional flat design, the outer areas of the screen might not be in focus to your eyes and look a bit distorted and/or blurry. The curved screen design fixes that. When you position yourself with a curved screen properly, you won't realize it is even curved after a while. However what it helps with is keeping all pixels in focus with your line of sight being dead-center and simply moving your eyes around; the color banding / back-lighting will also be much more evenly lit.

What can also help is; 1ms Motion Blur Reduction; DisplayPort + HDMI w/ FreeSync Premium (GSync Compatible) + Adaptive Sync + HDR10

1440p in either 16:9 or 21:9

At least 120-144Hz

It's not something you even notice tbh, even from a distance my G7 doesn't look or feel different to a flat monitor.

Maybe it's more noticeable at larger sizes but 99% of the time I'm completely unaware that i'm using a curved display.

Yes I had tried a couple IPS 32 and 34 inch when I first went to go above the usual 24 / 27 inch Displays. I did not like them, at least the flat ones. The edges were always blurry and distorted; it seemed odd. I would move my head so the pixels were more in-line with my eyes and the issue goes away. I said NO. I waited and went with a 34 inch 1440p curved QD-LED (will get OLED once they get better) and what a difference. Very nice and doesn't hurt my eyes thanks to the high refresh rate and 1ms motion blur reduction.

When you get above 30" or so, then the flat screens look wrong when you are close to them. The edges just look too far away.

If you sit abut 90cm from a screen (a good average) then you would think that 900R is a good curve, but to my eyes the best is a compromise, which is 1800R. It just looks right.

I think the only time the curve is not a good idea is when you use your monitor for critical design drawings. Everything else, the curve just looks better.
Curved in my opinion are better for gaming and movies. They give you more of a sense of immersion plus when you look at a corner it is much easier + reduced glare if you are in front of it. I believe my curve is 1800R curve on work setup and a 1000R on this setup. You never will go back to flat if you have a curved oled trust me.
