I'd wait if you can only when it won't be long til new stuff out.
If it was far off then I say it's pointless to wait.
But new chipset and motherboards coming along with the CPUs as well.
But personally I would get 7600, but if you found a better cpu at lower price like 7600x or better yet, 7700 you will be fine for a good while.
What could be the difference? My guess is ≈10% increase in IPC due to faster L1 and L2 cache and ≈5% higher clock speed due better process node. It shouldn't be able to catch the Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs, but the Ryzen 9000X3D will certainly have a higher IPC improvement with the same changes.
Can't be waitin' so long that it makes more sense to buy on holiday sales though.
generally you buy when you need new hardware.. never wait for whats on the horizon.
but you also not buy hardware less than 3 months before a confirmed release date as prices and value of old models will than plummeth.
I suggest you wait till july.. just a month for the 9000 series to release..
than you can for the same money grab a better 9000 series chip or a massicely discounted 7000 series one (remember when 2080tis were sold 500 euro when they were 1600 euro a week before due 3000 seriew release.. like that)
so if you see a 7600 for like half its normal price.. snipe it.. if not wait a month.
On the AM5 platform you're all set with DDR5, PCIE 5 and open ended upgrade path.
I recently pulled the trigger on my 7700X bundle at micro center because the deal was too good.
Nothing technically stops Disco Battle from buying Ryzen 11000 chips immediately after release even if he does buy Ryzen 9000 chips, and even if there were a law against it, he could just buy Ryzen 7000 chips for cheaper after Ryzen 9000 launch and likely have more money in pocket to make the move.
Barring special impetus from an especially good deal, there's no need to rush it.
You can get 7000 chips today for a pretty good discount already, and even better deals if you can make it to a microcenter.
I dont expect them to go that much lower just because of the 9000 launch.
I will be getting an R7 5700X3D to replace the R9 5900X in my main rig, which is also my main gaming rig, and have gotten a Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO to replace the by now almost 5 years old 360mm AIO. Anyway, the price of AM4 and present AM5 chips are pretty good now, so why not?
