Either buy now, or just wait til the 9000 series CPUs come out.

I'd wait if you can only when it won't be long til new stuff out.

If it was far off then I say it's pointless to wait.

But new chipset and motherboards coming along with the CPUs as well.

I would suggest to get 7600 if the sale is really good, and the upcoming 9000 series is still zen 5 architecture then you can consider it as an upgrade path down the line, but still you can also wait so at the end of the day it depends on what you actually want.

But personally I would get 7600, but if you found a better cpu at lower price like 7600x or better yet, 7700 you will be fine for a good while.

Only CPU worth buying that will outperform all of the 9000 series is 7800x3D on sale.

Only 7000 series that I would consider currently is 7800X3D.

At that point I'd probably just suggest you spend more for the 9xxx chip

The price probably shouldn't change much because it's an entry level Zen 4. Also in their keynote the Ryzen 5 9600X is 65W TDP which means there shouldn't be a Ryzen 5 9600 unless they do something like the Zen 5+ Zen 4(5?)c or disable AI accelerator or iGPU or I don't know what else.
What could be the difference? My guess is ≈10% increase in IPC due to faster L1 and L2 cache and ≈5% higher clock speed due better process node. It shouldn't be able to catch the Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs, but the Ryzen 9000X3D will certainly have a higher IPC improvement with the same changes.

I mean, 9000 series is supposed to be coming out in July so yeah. You'll either end up with a cheaper price on the same processor or more perf. per dollar spent on a better processor. Maybe wait a couple of weeks after launch to see if there are any immediate promotional discounts and for the perennial updaters to have a chance to put their old components on the market if not.

Can't be waitin' so long that it makes more sense to buy on holiday sales though.

I'd wait, the 9000 series is out soon and the 9000x3d chips are rumoured to be coming around September.

I advise to wait and not buy now.

generally you buy when you need new hardware.. never wait for whats on the horizon.

but you also not buy hardware less than 3 months before a confirmed release date as prices and value of old models will than plummeth.

I suggest you wait till july.. just a month for the 9000 series to release..
than you can for the same money grab a better 9000 series chip or a massicely discounted 7000 series one (remember when 2080tis were sold 500 euro when they were 1600 euro a week before due 3000 seriew release.. like that)

so if you see a 7600 for like half its normal price.. snipe it.. if not wait a month.

Just wait, it's less a month away or less, the prices of 7000 series will inevitably decrease, and the 9600/X wouldn't be too much slower than the 7800X3D

You can later upgrade to the gen coming AFTER Ryzen 9000 if you don't wait and build something today.

On the AM5 platform you're all set with DDR5, PCIE 5 and open ended upgrade path.

I recently pulled the trigger on my 7700X bundle at micro center because the deal was too good.

Nothing technically stops Disco Battle from buying Ryzen 11000 chips immediately after release even if he does buy Ryzen 9000 chips, and even if there were a law against it, he could just buy Ryzen 7000 chips for cheaper after Ryzen 9000 launch and likely have more money in pocket to make the move.

Barring special impetus from an especially good deal, there's no need to rush it.

You can get 7000 chips today for a pretty good discount already, and even better deals if you can make it to a microcenter.

I dont expect them to go that much lower just because of the 9000 launch.

If you already got an AM5 board and find a 7600 for a decent sale price then I'd say go for it, otherwise just wait for the 9600X (I'm guessing that's what you want?) to release proper.

With the imminent release of newer chips, or series like the 9000 series, prices of present and past chips (that are still relevant and perform well enough) have become much more attractive. I have a 5900X and 3900X, I've just sold my 3900X, and put the 5900X in that rig.

I will be getting an R7 5700X3D to replace the R9 5900X in my main rig, which is also my main gaming rig, and have gotten a Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO to replace the by now almost 5 years old 360mm AIO. Anyway, the price of AM4 and present AM5 chips are pretty good now, so why not?
