what will happen if i run a game without meeting the minimum graphics reqs?
so i rlly want to play Cooking Sim i see it everywhere it looks really fun and i saw it was on sale atm and i was oh why dont i just buy it but i thought wait let me check the requirements (i used can you run it) and everything else was fine like all good to run except the graphics thingy (im sorry i know nothing about this stuff i just want to play the game dont come at me).

I have Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics and the minimum reqs are GTX 660Ti 3GB / R9 270X 4GB and under its got both pixel shader and vertex shader ticked but not dedicated video ram (min 3gb i have 128mb)

so yeah im just wondering if this will absolutely ruin my game experience or if its like a minor thing idrk or just tell me if im going to have to spend thousands of dollars to play literally anything :)))

no one go at me if this is a stupid question bc i can probably bet money that you know so much because you dont touch grass

Basically the system requirements, well the minimum that is, shows you what gpu the game could run, at its minimum this could be booting up the game and having horrible fps, or ideally this is the minimum to play the game smoothly but with lower settings.

It is not consistent since depends from game to game, but when your gpu or any part that is below the requirement it becomes either unplayable or you would have to rely on lowering the settings for a playable fps.

If you can try to check the game on youtube and write your specs next to the game, maybe someone played it, and they have the same specs usually this is the only reliable to know this game can run, or not..

I know, go look on youtube is not the best answer you hoped for, but it really helped me when I had a laptop with intel hd 4600, so i really had to make sure if the game can run or not before buying.

I really hope you can run this game though!
Unless it specifically says that it doesn`t work with integrated graphics it should be ok.
Usually you can get away with lower CPU or GPU performance by lowering settings if it`s not too huge difference.
Checking YouTube if it has benchmark of this game with specs close to yours is good start also.
Could be anything from just long loading times to visual stutter to out of memory crashes.
You have integrated graphics card. Your graphics card dynamically allocates video memory based on the workload. You weren't most likely running anything, only a 2D desktop, so the graphics card needed only 128mb to drive your display.
Integrated graphics can use up to half of your system memory, so the graphics card would be capable of using almost 4gb if you have 8GB of system memory, though 90% of the time, integrated graphics usually are too weak to run into memory capacity limitations.
the intel xe isnt exactly strong but it is capable
but it depends on the driver to convert dx9 instructions to dx12 for the igpu to run
dx9 games have issues with it, newer drivers have fixes for specific games

ymmv

the the newer xe2 intel decided to put the dx9 instructions back in its cache, making it much more capable gpu

If you run a game with hardware that does not meet the minimum requirements then you should expect any or all of the following to happen: The game not start at all. The game may crash at any point. The game may not function correctly. Extremely poor performance ( < 30 FPS in your case) to the point of the game almost being completely unplayable at all even if you do get it to run.

It's best that if you can not meet the minimum requirements of a game to not bother trying to run it at all. Even if you get it working it will be a painful experience and not a fun time.
