Best CPU for RX 6800 XT (INTEL)
Hi guys,

I've recently built a PC, due to cpu bottleneck..i'm having bad stuttering and high cpu usage/low fps in majority games

I5 12400F (from old pc)
ASROCK B760M HDV M.2 D5
ASUS TUF RX 6800 XT
X2 16 GB DDR5 6000 MHZ

Can anyone recommend me a good/decent Intel processor for my gpu? For 1080p as for now.
Thank you/

i7-12700K and KF are pretty cheap currently, should boost performance enough over 12400.

Just make sure to get decent cooler for it, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE is cheap and quite good.

you need to find out whats wrong with this one.....real world the 12400f is not a bad CPU for this GPU......

with all the problems going on with intel the first thing i would do is update the BIOS and make sure all drivers are up to date on the board.....

this is your CPU matched with a 3080 10gb so very close to your GPU.....

you should have great frame rates but note they used a freeza 3 artic 360mm AIO on it......

Why Intel?

Just go for a 7800X3D

Especially with that AMD GPU, a combo with Intel makes no sense.

If you read it, he recently built the PC, why build a new one to replace his new parts that capable anyway that he already has and threw together?

Anyway, cheapest route would be to keep what you have? 6 cores 12 threads is pretty good, I'd look into why you may be seeing some stutters and high CPU usage, could be a thermal issue check temps.

What games are you playing?

The 12700k as others suggested is great, more p cores, more threads, may help in some of them games you are having issues in, I wouldn't waste your money on a 12900k, thats a lot of extra heat you have to deal with and money to fork out for vary little gains, unless of course you need the threads but gaming really don't need a ton of threads.

But again, I'd honestly look into why your i5 is struggling, it should do pretty well honestly in games.

12400 is a good one but pairing with rx6800 xt the gpu isnt able to fully utilize (30-50 usage) while by 12400f constantly runs at (90+ usage)

When i look into benchmark videos on youtube, their spec can hit almost 30% better fps in all games compared to my setup. They use i9 14900kf..........so i started looking for something similarly decent to that processor...rn my plan is to get one of these I5 14600KF Or I7 14700KF. which one will u think will run decently on 1080p?

Well of them 2 to save money, no reason a the i5 14600kf wouldn't give ya a good experience, its not going to be a big difference between the 2, the 14700kf will be a little faster of course, its boost is 300mhz faster on the p cores and it also has more p cores. I can't decide for you, but their wont be a big difference, more like 5 - 10% at most in the best case.

Can you recommend any processor? To eliminate 100 CPU usage on 1080p

If you're using an AMD motherboard, go with the AMD Ryzen 9 CPU, but the Ryzen 7 is less expensive. The 9 on the very expensive side but well worth the money if you can spend it. Something other than your CPU, all combined with it is what's using 100%. Something else along with the CPU is doing it. My AMD Ryzen 5 doesn't take all of that power to run things. Get a power supply that's at least 750 watts or 850 watts and you see a difference on power usage.
And AMD is a far better CPU than Intel's CPUs They were the reason I switched to AMD.

I wouldn't jump to the 13th or 14th gen intel because their issues are somewhat "solved" and unclear in the same way.

And when it comes to a CPU that isn't maxed out, it just needs to have more cores, the i7 12700K shouldn't have that problem.
