they are slower than the p cores, and if windows scheduler decides to run the games on them, then it can reduce game performance/fps
I got an asus Z790 motherboard and cannot find them. Tried searching "turn off e cores in asus bios" on google and it does not have anything they mention in the bios.
-Go into the UEFI
-select the "Advanced" tab
-select "CPU Configuration"
-scroll down and select "Legacy Game Compatibility Mode"
-set to "Enabled"
-Save and Exit
-Use "Scroll Lock" key to park or unpark "e" cores.
So is it better to get 14700K to avoid frame drops in certain games?
Regarding e-cores in general, Steve Walton suggested using Process Lasso[bitsum.com] to restrict which cores the games access on a per game basis. That way the e-cores are still enabled to help handle background tasks.
Couldn't tell you much more than that.
You might wanna research that. Core 7 is getting rid of HT only. the new Core 7 will have 20 cores.
8 P cores and 12 E cores.
I have a 13700K and it doesnt seem to be a massive increase to justify a new mobo and cpu.
Also I had the 9700K, it was amazing for the price, but the lack of threads, 8 threads 8 core no HT made it run like trash in many games, and murdered any ability to stream, without the cpu hitting 100% cpu.
Games like Jedi Survivor & Icarus caused me to make the jump to 13700k The 9700k went out dated way too fast. The lack of HT and thread count killed it's longevity.
The new core 7 265k is set to be fast, and run cooler, but I dont think it will last as long(in terms of performance vs new games releasing) The lack of HT and no additional P cores makes it a sleeper imho
im running the 13700k with all p and 3 cores no overclock no undervolt. Just stock turbo. 4k 144hz, runs well, unless I fire up Star ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, then I need to kill my e cores.
It's Intel's name for a 4c core. :-P
GPU does most of the work nowadays this seems insignificant at best.
