You're basicly running a 12 years old dual-core processor.
Better get new RAM, motherboard and CPU
Without swapping your whole system, and assuming you have an OK motherboard, you can probably slot in an FX8350. Its still quite slow by modern standards (slower than an R3/i3) but it will be *much* more servicable for gaming. They average around $65 buy it now on ebay, and can be had cheaper local or in auction. If you are runnings stock cooling look into a Hyper 212 or similar ~$30 120mm tower cooler to get the FX8 properly cooled.
If you want more modern performance that wont hold the 1080ti back pickup a newer r3/i3 build from either AMD or Intel, but know it will require a full new core build with motherboard and ram to match.
It was indeed slower, but for daily use tasks though the slowness was noticeable it was not impactfull in any way. It went fine. For gaming it def cant push my 165hz screen at 165fps, but in all games I tried it was able to push a fairly solid 60fps average and it was totally usable for an enjoyable gaming experience over the course of the week.
It is slow, but it is still serviceable for any games that dont require AVX.
and its 2 cores with smt, not 4 cores
amds core vs thread lawsuit should have covered all fx cpus, not just fx 8-9
its a very poor match with a 1080ti even for 1440p or 4k for the games the cpu can handle
Insufficient memory to run Windows and also game.
GPU is old but it appears it has 11 gigs internal memory which is amazing for a 9 year old GPU.
Since you can refund the graphics card and are willing to use secondhand parts, an 8320 with 1050 ti would be borderline usable.
I've had no issues using an FX 8350 + GTX 1080 Ti and it blows the GTX 970/980 RX 580/590 away easily. No problem getting 50-90 FPS with RDR2 all cranked up at 1080p. I gave that PC to a family member a few years back and it's still rock solid.
a FX type is ancient, sometimes a older processor can be paired with a newer one however
take my setup for example, i run a i7-3770K and it runs just fine with a 1660 Ti, gets smooth 60 FPS in even intensive games(tested on medium graphics)
I downgraded to the I3 12100f myself to get rid of the high power draw and heat years ago. Plays all the games I want to smoothly.
shoudl have wet itel im still playing on my 12 year old i2700k
yeah no.....bought a AMD 555 and turned it in to a real quad core with core unlocker.....80 bucks for a CPU that can still play a lot of things today was a better deal.....
I suggest a whole new cpu/motherboard/memory setup.
Even a lowish end modern setup would be a big improvement.
you'd be fine with a Ryzen 5 3600 or 5500, any B450 or B550 motherboard, and 2x8 or 2x16GB DDR4-3200 if you can't afford much
