Also I'm using Kubuntu right now 'cause K.D.E. Plasma with the compositor disabled offers relatively good performance for games. Allegedly Steam O.S. for the Deck is derived from Kubuntu. Not necessarily the best mind you, but still, there are a handful of easy ways to easily disable the compositor, including an automated script.
