recalibrate control sticks
hey all,

I just bought a used gamecube controller and it works fine except for the fact that steam seems to recognize it as "off center" to describe it bluntly.

Basically the control stick is always registered as being slightly down. I can fix this using dead zone configs but the controler never can make it to the top part of the control stick if that makes sense. Basically I can never fully go up. is there a way to recalibrate the controller so that steam will read it correctly?

i dont think calibration is going to fix a worn joystick.

have you taken it apart yet? cleaned the buttons/ect.. contacts and looked it over?

the issue could be as simple as some dirt or something sticky, or maybe its not sitting properly and need to be adjusted, or something mounting the joystick is lose, or broken/cracked... ect..

i mean it is a used controller.

if you were to take it apart, simply take pictures before removing anything, you can also find plenty of vids on tearing down a controller (w/e controller it is).

iirc, its hold l+r triggers and hit start to caliberate center for gc controllers

but if it has drift or unresponsive zones, then its a bad pot

Cause it's compatible natively with said emulated titles?

Why would steam support a controller from a 20 year old nintendo system out of the box? And why are you using it instead of any other Xinput based controllers on the market?
