Can I use an older Nvidia driver for RTX 4080 that came out before the 4080 was released?
So I found out my corrupt hdmi image issue. Nvidia adopted a stricter edid standard for their drivers for their RTX 4000 series. This standard doesn't work with Sony Oled televisions. The only work around is to use an Nvidia driver 522.25. On the Nvidia website. It says that this driver works for the 4000 series. And it only list the 4090. I assume because the driver was released before the 4080 was sold. Just wanted to check if this will work for my 4080 without issue?

Typically, no. Not without modifying the driver yourself, anyway (if that's even practical/possible).

If you already have the hardware though, it would have been simple to try it.

So If I try it and it doesn't work. I can simply uninstall it and go back to a more recent driver? Just want to make sure an older driver doesn't brick my 4080.

The driver must specifically support a 4080 if that's what you have.

Honestly I wouldn't be using a Display that doesn't use DisplayPort. As THAT is the PC and MAC standard you should be using.

It won't install to begin with if it doesn't support it.
If you try to install a driver not for your card nvidia will throw back an error saying no supported hardware found.
