Help: CPU-compatibility - Biostar B450 NH (V.6.0) Mini itx Motherboard
Hello,

as far as i know b450 is compatibel with Ryzen 1. Gen and can be up to Ryzen 5000 compatible.

On some Motherboards the upgrades causes older CPU´s to be removed with newer Bios-Versions because of limited rom size.

On the Biostar-Website it says that this Motherboard is Ryzen 1. Gen compatible, but there is no Ryzen 1. Gen (Summit Ridge) listet in die CPU-Support-List on the same Website.

Than i looked at the differnt bios versions for this board and nowhere it said that ryzen 1. Gen support was removed with any of the bios updates.

I want to run a ryzen 5 1600x in it, but im not sure if it will boot.

Does anybody has this Board and knows if it is compatible, or did biostar just forget to put Ryzen 1, gen in that list??

The websites of older boards where CPU support was added later, the specs details won't talk about or refer to those newer CPUs in any way. This is only referred to via BIOS Updates. So check there in the Downloads section for your exact model of Motherboard. It would refer to CPUs such as Ryzen 2xxx, 3xxx, 5xxx series in the various BIOS updates.

The processor is not listed as supported , but for Biostar B450 MH

Yes , there is a contraversy . They say on one tab it supports 1 gen CPUs but on the CPU supported list there is no such CPU mentioned .

There s a link Contact us on the their page . Ask them for assistance .

oh, okay

If I remembered correctly some Motherboard Vendors removed Older CPU Support for Older Motherboards like on B450, B350 because the Bios Chip ran out of space Support for 5000 series. So you have to rollback on Previous Bios Versions.

Here's the hole article here and reason why older AMD Boards have removed support for older CPU's. Zen 3 were only meant to be for 5x0 motherboards, not 4x0 or 3x0. People brought out the pitchforks so AMD made a change to full support Zen 3 all across the board on AM4.

I wrote an E-Mail to Biostar Europe, just to be sure, i will share the answer, if they reply
Remember guys a bios chip is either 32mb or smaller.
The smaller ones tend to delete older support for 1st gen.
Always read the bios update notes.
Check the bios version it has some say it on the bios sticker.
If it has bios flash back then use a older bios.
Bios flash back does not need a cpu installed.
But not sure if your motherboard supports that.
Been building pc's for over 10 years.

Introverted Gamer , thanks for the article . i extracted something

quote
The issue originally stemmed from the fact that most Socket AM4 motherboards had a 16 MB BIOS as certain older AM4 processors could only address the first 16 MB of ROM. Therefore, as new Ryzen processor generations started to emerge, AMD had to cut support for the oldest one possible in order to free up space on the ROM. For example, X570 and B550 motherboards forego support for the Athlon A series, Ryzen 1000, and Ryzen 2000 APUs so as to accommodate AGESA code for Ryzen 2000 CPUs and up.

Yep that is true.
I can confirm that because I was talking about that.
Glad I was able to help.

Hi, i tested the board with a Ryzen 1200 (14nm) and it worked, so the board is Ryzen 1000 compatible.

differs cause not all motherboard use the old bios.
you either got the board near release day or you got some of the old stock that didn't see the bios update. You can have 2 of the same boards and one is old stock with older bios and new stock with newer bios.

I had old stock, no ryzen 3000 compatible sticker or anything on the box
