Haswell VS Ivy Bridge
I'm going to get a core i3 and a new motherboard which processer should I get? Also if I do get the haswell will my psu (evga 500 watt 80 plus bronze) be able to run it?

I would choose Ivy Bridge because Haswell has overheating problems. :tradingcard:

Yeah I've heard about that

You can fix the overheating on Haswell (one guy on YouTube did it), but it is gonna cost you at least 50 dollars more.

Probably going to get the Ivy then, thanks.

haswell is about 10% more eficient/faster per clock vs ivy

heat isnt an issue, most haswell i3s are under 60w

Best to get an Ivy Bridge, as everyone has said Haswell has heating problems, plus Ivy Bridge is more bang for your buck now because Haswell is out

Hold on, what are people talking about?! Haswell and Ivy use the same crappy thermal compound inside them to connect the chip to the IHS. Both Haswell and Ivy have the same heat issues as far as I know. Go haswell, they are slightly faster and more efficient. Sandybridge has the good thermal compound but is two generations old now so I wouldn't go for any of that lineup.

So you do not know it as far as I think, because they may have crappy compound, but it is still better than Haswell. But when I think about it, if it is i3 then the heating problems are not as bad.

Haswell only gets a bad rep for temps because people overclock and use crappy heatsinks when they try to, because they think it wont be any different than ivy bridge.

Get Haswell if you want to just play games.
Get Ivy Bridge if you want to overclock.
