Tactic3D Rage USB mic not working

I just got these bad boys yesterday, and the sound is amazing. Only one flaw, and it's a big one.
The mic doesn't work.
I've stuck the detatchable mic firmly in the plug, and connected everything to my computer and installed the latest drivers. Now, when I plug the USB into the computer, I get a terrible whining noise coming through the headphones. Trying to use the mic just makes it even louder. Help would be greatly appreciated.

U try a different USB port, such as one in the rear of the system/motherboard?

make sure its in the right way, goes in one way.
make sure the correct hole on the mic is facing your mouth, the other is the noise cancelling mic.
Make sure the mute mic button on the earpeice is not on.

Make sure your windows sound/Mic driver is not interfering (unlikely) but if after that and a reinstall does not help. I'm out.

Tried and tried, but these pieces of crap are just f****** bricked. Thanks for your suggestions, but it's just completely bricked and useless at this point.

I had same problem, the solution is;
Open the recording devices, get into properties of Headset Microphone, on Advanced tab, deselect exclusive mode properties, and then apply...

I thought mine was completely broken as well. But Midtowntr`s suggestion plus aligning the mic and forcing it in worked for me. I was honestly quite shocked but I used a lot of force and it started working.
