GTX 770 vs r9 280x

I am trying to decide between the 770 and 280x. The main games i play are Battlefield 4 and skyrim. I do like playing all sorts of games though I'm not limited. My other concern is if i go for the 770 do i need the 4gb version? I want to keep the card for 2-3 years hopefully, i may sli/xfire later if needed. Also if it makes a difference i plan to watercool these in a fulll loop in the spring time. My budget is 250-350. If it really mattered i could splurge to a 290 but i would prefer not because i think the increase in performance is minimal, but if its huge like 15-20 fps in BF4 i could do it...

My specs are
i7 3770k @ 4.4 -.05volts
asrock z77 extreme 4
ocz ZT series 750 watt psu 80+ bronze
samsung 840 120gb ssd 1tb wd green
24gb @1600mhz ram
gtx 660 SC 2gb

Maybe the 290 would be the economical option if you are going to water cool.

Ps if you're thinking of sli/xfire then the gtx660 is a cheaper option to experiment with to see if you like sli.

yeah i had though about sli'ing my 660 but its a lowmidrange card and im getting into watercooling soon. so i wanted to get a good gfx card and just watercool it all at once. so it looks like the 770 is slightly better than a 280x and i do tend to like nvidia so maybe that would be the best way to go.
